Vandersteen 2CE Vs. Von Schweikert VR-2100
I have a pair of 2Ce Sigs, driven by a McCormack DNA-1 (great match by the way). I would not say that the Vandys are laid back, but I would say that they are musical and certainly not harsh or brittle. I am very sensitive to harsh top ends.I have ...
Recommended Soldering Iron
You might head over to AudioKarma and search in the DIY forum. There is a reputable vendor there offering a good deal on the Hakko FX888 through the end of November. I think you will save about $15-20.

Modern amp that has warmth and sound of B&K?
I would second the McCormack recommendation. I recently made some changes to my system, including moving from a Classe 10 amp to a McCormack DNA-1 amp. The Classe was no slouch, but I could not be more happy with the improvement in my system. The ...

Three recent, key learnings
Well, I would differ with you on that point. I do not disagree that a piece of the puzzle is getting electronic components that match well from a purely physics perspective. But in my case, beyond that, experimenting with speaker placement, gettin...
Three recent, key learnings
Two other notes. First for me, I think the biggest improvements have been the addition of the Vandersteen and McCormack gear. It is a great match, and kind of cool that with very little effort you can talk live with both designers.Secondly, I have...
Vandersteen 2ce questions
I have a pair of 2CE Signatures. I really, really like the Vandersteen products. I drive mine with a McCormack amp that puts out 185 watts per channel. They do like, and benefit from a decent amount of power, and they are not extremely efficient. ...

Here’s my $1750…just tell me what to buy..
I would try to track down some McCormack DNA amps. I just picked up an DNA-1 and it is a great piece. Sounds more like music than anything I have had before.....built like a tank and still sup0pored by the designer. The DNA-.5 amps are going for &...

Best Tube preamplifier under $600
I am a fan of Sonic Frontiers gear. You should be able to find an SFL-1 or even and SFL-1 Signature at that price point. No remote or phono stage but a very well build preamp using one tube......and PartsConnexion still supports repair and upgrade...
Aragon 4004 vs. McCormack DNA-1?
Hi guys. Thought I would follow up on this thread. I went ahead and bought a stock DNA-1. At this point I could not be more pleased. The amp is in great shape. It is built beautifully and really fits well in my system.....and I think it is a great...
Aragon 4004 vs. McCormack DNA-1?
Thanks for the input thus far. Definitely leaning toward the McCormack. Total cost to me is actually within $50 which seems to make the DNA-1 an even better deal. I keep running into other amps that just muddy the issue, a single BEL 1001 mk2, McI...
