Cartridge Alignment
Some things come to mind....is the turntable absolutely level....is the cartridge tracking at about 1.7 grms....is the arm free of drag as you move it to the spindle and back by hand....did you get the cartridge new...look at the stylus head on an...
Michell Gyro SE + SME IV upgrade path
What is it that you don't like about your current turntable?  If anything?  If you just want a change, the VPI Classic is a mighty good turntable...it will sound different but if it's attributes are not the things that you respond to...what's the ...
Anti skate. I think something's wrong
There is no way to measure/adjust anti-skate properly...it is a constantly changing force, and is so small that it is unnecessary. It only distorts the tracking of the arm...provides unnecessary damping .....not for me.

For the best sound you shouldn't use the a/s at all.  I never use it.
To Power Condition or Not to Power Condition?
Maestro is a good choice....I've noticed a big improvement...without coloration in its use.
turntable speed control
Personally I find the SDS quite adequate.  On paper, the Phoenix is better, but I couldn't hear a difference.  The digital ouput is quite nice if you're an anal type.  I am a pro violinist and am pretty sensitive to pitch deviation, and find the S...
When a speaker offers upgrades (e.g. Tekton)
The alluring quest for perfection is always dangling in front of us audiophiles.  I would speak to the manufacturer and let him describe the differences...see if your dealer has a "new" one that you can hear and decide if the upgrade is worth it. ...
Krell Krs 1 balanced : phono section
It says in your owners' manual, that the unit was designed for moving coil (low output) cartridges.  You might try a high level input (CD, etc).  Your volume control will need to change, but that isn't an issue for the unit.
Shopping for a preamp
Ayre gear is cutting edge stuff.....also K1xemp with phono board should be in your search
Oh brother, am I in desperate need of help! 8)
I agree with stevecham.....talk to John at AudioConnection in New Jersey....it would really be worth a phone call.
interconnect choice
I have Clear Day as well....works better than anything I've tried (lots)  Ayre to Vandersteen
CARTRIDGE WOES?
...for starters, sit down with a drink and relax.  Something is wrong here.  I would send the cartridge to Lyra for a quick evaluation.  If you have great confidence in your dealer...he could look at it, but I personally would have Lyra take a loo...
interconnect choice
czarivey....that's true if the equipment is designed for balanced operation...not just single ended with XLR connections.
ground the outlet or not??
I certainly would attach the ground.....
Has biwire speaker cabling become "old" ?
Nutty...I posted something to you, but it wasn't published.  Should you be interested in my take....sgreenp@msn.com
