Anyone in Vegas listen to the Gilmore speakers???
115dB would of course affect your hearing. How on earth one could claim to make any judgement about sound quality with music played that loud escapes me.I'd be more convinced if this wasn't another riff by someone with something to gain.

The sonic attributes that were described match those from a well-designed dipole. Before anyone plunks down the $19K I'd suggest trying to have a listen to the Linkwitz Orion speakers (www.linkwitzlab.com). The reviews there match the one above ra...

Wel, at least they are thick skinned. Imagine my surprise thumbing through the latest Absolute Sound when I see a three page ad for the Gilmores. Still making the same suspect claims of course, but using even worse creative. I've worked in adverti...

Duke, thanks for your reasoned response. Your explanation of the the high QTS drivers, the excursion limited lows and the vertical dispersion accord perfectly with my experience with ribbons and dynamic dipole bass.Best of luck with the speakers.

I believe he is referring to me as the one he is done with, mainly because in spite of his 'welcoming skepticism' he is unable to answer the questions. He incorrectly stated the Xmax, then says proper testing is unnecessary when a finger is just as...

Apologize for what, o sellerwithintegrity? For pointing out that your claims for these speakers might be a tad overblown?I have speakers using dynamic dipole drivers for the bass so I have an idea what the tradeoffs are, although dipole bass is as...

"Second, and somewhat related is the skepticism concerning the ability of our woofers to move sufficient air to accomplish authoritative bass. Cone excursion of drivers on some of the sites referred to are as little as 6mm. We are able to attain b...

I believe people have a healthy skepticism of a very expensive new speaker that makes rather outlandish claims yet appears to be no more than rehash of the Carver and a number of other ribbon/dynamic hybrids. The manufacturer's dealers have posted ...
Digital crossovers?
I actually use the dbx Driverack 260, which is a similar unit. These are all pro audio items and can be bought from pretty much any pro shop. www.zzounds.com has pretty good prices, and they are often on eBay.Steve
Digital crossovers?
The Behringer and others are external crossovers that go between your preamp and your power amp. Their website is, oddly enough, www.behringer.comHowever, it is not as easy as simply ripping out your current crossovers. You need to know what cross...
Electronic crossover recommendations
If you really want flexibility, you need a crossover that allows you to select any crossover point, with any slope, plus it should have the ability to deal with delays, phase and EQ for the individual drivers. This probably means one of the new dig...
Why Do Martin Logan Speakers Lack Dynamic Energy?
I've also owned M-L, ribbons etc. But you cannot break the laws of physics. To get deep uncompressed bass you must move air. Stats just cannot give the excursion required to do this unless they are huge.
Subs for Martin Loagn CLSIIs
The best subs I had when I owned CLS were Celestion System 6000 dipole subs. Dipole bass is wonderful, and will naturally match the dipole nature of your speakers. However, there are no current makers of dipole subs to the best of my knowledge. For...
Maggie 1.6QR versus "high-end" monitors.
There is at least one speaker that combines many of the best qualities of Maggies with the best qualities of dynamic speakers.http://www.linkwitzlab.com/index.htmOr check out any of the Audio Artistry models.Steve
Loudspeaker DIY Kits any suggestions???
I'll second the Linkwitz Orions. I finished with these after owning Martin Logan CLS, Genesis V, Newform R645, and Watt/Puppis amongst others.
