Considering the option of "DSP speakers" The only reason I could see designing any dsp speakers without their own amplification would be marketing. Bryston was showing their dsp xover at axpona with their 3 way and their own amps, the xover was $13,500! throw in a couple 7b's and a modes...
In search for speakers of "natural" sound So I'm reading a review on stereophile and the writer begins by stating that his neighbor told him he probably wouldn't like the speakers because they were music lovers speakers not 'audiophile' speakers! they were the Vienna acoustics Beethovens....
Hegel H190 Jsqt, I believe you are correct I have a h360 and some buttons do nothing, amp rocks though!
Speakers that sound like Usher Be-20s/10s Use the spikes! Once you get them placed screw the spikes into the plinth and be amazed at how much the bass improves. Excellent speakers.
Vienna Acoustic Bach Grand Ohms question I think he said he was taking the driver from a VA center?
Vienna Acoustic Bach Grand Ohms question Us distribution for va sucks. Buy a cheap ohm meter and check the resistance of the drivers disconnected to confirm they’re within a tenth or two and if they fit you’ll be fine
Revel Ultima Salon 2 and Ypsilon Integrated Amp I drove mine with a Hegel H360. 250/8 ohms 425/4 and a really high damping factor. my amp ran hot while another salon 2 h360 owner loved the combo so room size, music type and spl expected will all matter. I emailed Harman support asking how much ...
The midi range, not the tweeter, is the most important driver in a speaker. Double edge sword using metal drivers. All that added detail exposes the flaws in the recording, also harder to drive.
The midi range, not the tweeter, is the most important driver in a speaker. Looking at the db meter during music playback I’ll agree the midrange driver in a 3 way gets the most work, but it’s the integration of the woofer and tweeter that make a hi end speaker special
Paradigm 3f, KEF reference 3, Monitor Audio PL300II If you believe that then your search is over, congratulations. There's no reason to tear down any other brand to do so.
Yamaha NS 5000 I'm in the chicago burbs and so far the only showroom i've found the speakers listed that had have a showroom is ABT electronics, which is a big box store. As to the other shops i'll take your word.
dissapointed - new LS50w's vs old PioneerFS52's/Luxman R113 - so far Kef's not so great? I think people read the class a rating of the speakers and expect more than a single 51/2" woofer in a small box is going to be able to deliver. Toe in with uniq drivers is also critical with regard to distance from side walls and room treatments.
Focal Sopra 2 v. Sonus Faber Amati Futura For about 10 years I owned 2 pair of speakers. 1 pair was loud and dynamic, put the drum kit right in the room and were my rock speakers. I had another pair that were better at resolving the finer details at the expense of slam and maximum spl. I ...
Yamaha NS 5000 Thanks for taking the time for the write up. Yamaha must be trying to control the pricing uf the speakers by selling at big box stores. Shame since there's usually very little to compare to and those half glass rooms just suck for demoing music pl...
KEF Reference 207/2s or Blade 2 My experience with Kef uniq is more power better. I sold my R107/2 last winter. They still had world class bass, but the mids and highs were showing their age next to the newest hifi I had. The Blade intro by Kef the first showing used 2 JC1's per... |
