3 channel amp to compliment Pass Aleph 30 for HT Yep, seems like overkill, but the only way to do it right. The Pass amps will hold their value too, so it's not like you are throwing your money away. This is a common mistake made with multichannel set-ups. Different amps and speakers for the surr...
3 channel amp to compliment Pass Aleph 30 for HT I would recommend buying more Pass Labs Aleph XX amps. Anything else will be a compromise. Those Pass Labs Aleph 60 monos just sold, so you missed those. Add 60's to the front and move the 30's to the rear. 6ch is not a bad idea either in case you...
Speaker placement: On the rug OK? The "noise floor" is how loud the room is with nothing playing.Video projectors present noise problems because of their fans. Typically located right above your head with little or no sound absorption, they can be quite annoying during movie watch...
Speaker placement: On the rug OK? Your room is pretty tight. Moving the carpet in front of your speakers will make little if any difference. The locations of your front speakers is about as good as you can get for your home theater set-up. Basically the throw carpet in the room is...
Seeking opinions using 2 full range spkr as centr Bad Idea! Also, "Y" splitting the speaker wires may give your amp a load it does not like and fry it.One full range center speaker is a good idea, however.
Vintage speakers, need suggestions on amp & phono Jolida 302A is probably a good start. I suggest serching the fourms as for budget integrateds. Hang onto your Marantz until you find something better. Keep in mind that you can always buy and sell most used gear with little or no loss save for shi...
recommendations for kitchen cabinet-top speakers? I would have to agree that's probably a pretty good application for the Mirage Omnisats. Basically the ceiling will reflect the sound in much the same way the tweeter reflector works. Take the grills off and tuck them against the wall up there out...

Plasma Aftermarket Power Cord I saw signalcable has a new video power cable for less than 50 bucks. Might be worth a try.http://www.signalcable.com/power_cables.html
Cheap volume for large room Ok, I took another look at this thread. If you want the type of sound of your Martin Logans on a bigger scale you probably need something like SoundLab A3, A1 or U1's. Some big amps and maybe a sub to complete the package. Contact SoundLab and see...
Plasma Aftermarket Power Cord Just try the different cords you have. They will make a difference. Seeing is believing, which is something many of us have had to argue about regarding cables and power conditioning with our hi-fi systems. The EDTV you have has better blacks than...
Cheap volume for large room If you have two corners, then get some Klipshorns. Esentially the room becomes part of the bass drivers folded horn and you are literally standing in the speaker. They have quite the following and you can play with low wattage tube amp designs and...
Help...Need a New Amp McCormack is a good way to go. Some say the DNA .5 sounds better with less power. More power will generally give you tighter bass and more dynamics. If you have efficient speakers (89db and up) you don't need as much power. It depends on your list...
Arcam or Marantz? Marantz receivers start out as Pioneer units. Marantz tweaks the audio stages for better sound and dresses up the face plates. I can't compare with Arcam, but I would choose Marantz over Pioneer. |
