Lexicon vs Meridian Meridian 565 has a better sounding pre-amp in it than the 561. The 561 has the nice computer interface and multiple inputs. It was a budget one box solution to the 565/562V combo. If you just get the 565 you only get 1 otpical, 1 digital and 1 ana...
Help with deciding on a small power conditioner Buy a power conditioner for your head-end (CD player/changer/dac/pre-amp). You should hear better space between instruments, more detail and lower noise floor. Leave the powered speakers plugged direct in the wall for the best dynamics.
question for Gallo Ref owners The Gallo CDT tweeter is very revealing. I would stay away from bright amplification and lean toward the warmer side. I have run Gallo ref II's on solidstate and tube amps. I have yet to try a hybrid which I think might be the best match. On the Re...
how much difference does a player make Adding a good DAC to a multi-disc player like Rotel or Denon is a good idea too. Get the player first and then if you want better sound upgrade the DAC later. The downside is you will need another outlet, shelf space and digital cable for the DAC.

Suggestions for a budget amp In the 90's NAD needed AV receivers and multi-disc CD players to compete with the big boys from Japan. They sourced the base units from Onkyo and modified them to match the NAD line. Button layouts, displays and remotes are all tell tale signs. I ...

Runco Plasmas - How are they different? Runco was using Panasonic glass. I think they have moved to Pioneer glass on their 43" models. Basically they are modding the video processors, scalers and power supplies to maximize the capability of the panels. The Vivix models have outboard pro...
mp3 bit stream to DAC? Hovendic,I looked around for an answer to your question, but I could not find anything specific as to what requirements a DAC needs to play an MP3. MP3 players have decoders built in them, but outboard decoders or DACs seem to be lacking. Perhaps ...
Static in the balance knob, what can I do? Sometimes many quick rotations back and forth can clean the contacts within the control or switch. |
