Emotiva XDA-1 DAC No, it doesn't upsample, but a Musical Fidelity V-Link usb/spdif converter made my flac files from my laptop totally enjoyable. The xda 1 has a lot of bang for the buck, especially at it's clearance price of 249.00. I bought a "b stock" unit for 2...
Best value turntable under 1k You may be able to pick up a used VPI Scout here for around a grand.
Emotiva interconnect I am using 2 of their X series digital cables and they sound as good as any others I have heard in the 200.00 price range.
How fast is the Oppo BDP-93? I have a Sony S350 Blu-Ray player and it takes eons for it to load a disc and start playing.. My Sony top loading SCD 777ES SACD player takes a full minute to start playing a SACD disk.
Where to go after Devore Fidelity Super 8's While I didn't have the Super 8 speakers, I did have the Gibbon 8 speakers in my system for about 6 months. I found the bass considerably lacking and ended up putting a Paradigm sub into the mix. It took me 2 months of tweaking it to get the sub t...
Emotiva amplifiers review/experience? While I do not own an Emotiva amp, I do own their XDA-1 DAC and it wounds absolutely wonderful. Build quality is first rate. One of the online reviewing magazines tested their 125wpc 2 channel amp which retails for 299.00. He summed it up by sayin...
Amplifiers:A Keeper for Life. Do you know of one ? Shake777...........................You should not be embarassed having Emotiva products. They offer a lot of bang for the buck and a nice system can easily be built with their electronics. I myself own an Emotiva XDA-1 D/A converter which I use in...

How do we remember 1970s amplifiers? My system in 1978 was a GAS Son of Ampzilla, GAS Theadra preamp and a GAS Sleeping Beauty cartridge mounted on a JVC Direct Drive turntable. Speakers were Rectilinear 7's. Never could get the 7's to sound as good or better than the old Rectilinear...
$1000 player or dac recommendation There is a Sonic Frontiers CD 1 cd player listed here for around 1200. Might be able to get the person down a bit. I think it would work wonders with your other Sonic Frontiers equipment. I hade a Classe 10 amp for almost 10 years, I loved it. I o...
How do we remember 1970s amplifiers? I had a Kenwood 8000 and something integrated amp. I think it put out 75 wpc. I used it with Rectilinear 3a speakers and the sound was excellent. I have fond memories of that system. My turntable was a Thorens TD160 with a Shure V15 cartridge.Shou...
Amps for MBL 111 I wouldn't bother with the Emotiva amps. They are a lot of bang for the buck but your speakers are highly resolving and will likely show the amps shortcomings. MBL speakers like a lot of power. I would look for something in the 200wpc range and up...
Impedance Mismatch: A.I. M3A, Krell KSA100 Scoutdog is waaaay off base. Many people use tube preamps and solid state amps. There is no law against mixing and matching. IMHO, a krell pre and power amp makes for a very fatigueing sound. Just sayin.
Impedance Mismatch: A.I. M3A, Krell KSA100 I have a Modulus 3A preamp coupled with a Stratos Extreme stereo amp with a 22K input impedence. It is a match made in heaven. I am smitten with the sound and couldn't ask for any better. I would suspect your Krell amp with the 22K input impedence...
Musical Fidelity V-Link with computer.. Rega Dac I tried it both ways. USB directly into my Emotiva XDA 1 dac and it sounded pretty good. Then, the usb to the V- link and coax from the v-link to the coax input on my Emotiva dac. Wow, what a difference! Music flows naturally, much more involving ... |
