Dumb question #643: should speaker cables last a lifetime? The wires will last unless you cut them or run over them with the vacuum. Whoever said you need to replace them every six months doesn't know what they are talking about, just like the president elect.
Experimenting with reversing polarity to speakers If you are using a tube preamp, many of them reverse polarity at the output and compensation must be made by doing exactly what you did.. All 3 of my various Audible Illusions Modulus series preamps and my Rogue Audio RP-5 are inverted at the out...
Looking for a Speaker Recommnedation "The Triton Ones sound like they would work but I am a bit turned off by the fit/finish. Those sleeves/and the overall unit look cheap. What do you think as a owner?"They look quite elegant in my living room and it has a very high WAF. If these ...
Looks like B&K is back Looks like they have gone to the dark side, class D. I wouldn't touch one with a 10 foot pole. IMHO, they are not yet ready for prime time.
Need Recommendation for Turntable--$2-3k VPI Classic 1, new for 2700.00 from Music Direct.
VPI Scout or GEM Dandy PolyTable Go with the Scout. I have had mine for over 10 years and everytime I think about changing, I ask myself why. The Scout is built to last a lifetime.
Looking for a Speaker Recommnedation The GE Triton Ones is your best bet for the type of music you listen to. I use them in my main system after going through 5 other speakers and they sound incredible. Previously I had Vandersteen 2ci, Vandersteen 2ce, DeVore Gibbon 8, Von Schweik...
Burn in time for a new CD transport? I have a cxc transport in my secondary system. It has at least 200 hours on it and I didn't hear any difference from the first time I fired it up. I got it new earlier this year.
Cambridge CXC with Arcam irDAC I am using a CXC with my Parasound Halo Integrated amp. It has a built in dac using the ESS 9018 chip. It sounds excellent through a Wireworld starlight digital coax cable. My only gripe is the minimal information on the display. It is the quickes...
Shunyata [original] Hydra vs their new line I have 2 Copperhead 20 amp cords, 2 Copperhead 15 amp cords and 7 Diamondback Platinum 15 amp power cords..
Shunyata [original] Hydra vs their new line While I can't compare the old from new, I will say I have an original Hydra plus 2 Hydra Fours. I also use all Shunyata power cords. Everything works so well and is so noise free that I don't see any reason to change.
Sony HAP Z1ES or tablet with DAC The Sony HapZ1ES is best useds with a tablet as the remote control. You can use Android or Apple based. The tablet will show you all the music with the artwork in an easy to use format. I went from an Aurender N100H and a Wyred4Sound Dac2 DSD t...
ROI. Where is money better spent? The preamp more or less really helps define the sound of the system. That would be the biggest bang for the buck.
Another DAC recommendation There is a Wyred4Sound Dac-2 available here for under 600.00. That's a 1500.00 dac with the ESS dac chip. You could send it to Wyred for the DSD upgrade for minimal money. I have no affiliation with the seller, but have owned the Wyred dac in t...
Is a Step-up Transformer needed? I used mine with a Bob's Devices Cinemag 3440A SUT into my phono input and it sounded great. The sound had more authority and detail through the SUT. I believe the Denon is a 30 or 40 ohm load. |
