Pioneer SX-1050 speaker problems
I had the same fluttering/pumping woofers in my system and no amount of placing the turntable, different platforms and shelving helped.  I ended up buying a KAB rumble filter and the problem has vanished.  I can not hear any negative effects.
New Sony HAP-Z1ES Firmware Out Today
I use all Groneberg Quattro Reference interconnects and speaker cables.  My amp is internally wired with it.  The interconnects go for around 325.00 for a 1 meter pair with the WBT locking rca plugs.
Why does it take so many hours to brea in arc preamps and amps?
"So, is it the tubes, the caps, or the listener?"I would say an equal part of all three.
New Sony HAP-Z1ES Firmware Out Today
I tried it with my Wyred4Sound DAC-2 with DSD and Femto Clock.  The dac cost me 1725.00.  The Sony bettered it in a way that the music really flows and  sounds more organic.  The Wyred dac uses the ESS 9018 dac chip.  Needless to say I sold the Wy...
VPI Scout or GEM Dandy PolyTable
In all my years and 3 different VPI turntables, I never, ever had customer support problems with them.  They always answered the phone and made arrangements for me.  When I broke my cuing lever, Matt sent me a new one no charge, even though the tu...
Looking for a Speaker Recommnedation
Golden Ear just came out with a Triton Reference speaker for 8500.00 a pair.  It has larger and updated drivers, more power for the subwoofers and it is solid wood.  The sock is gone!  I will be talking to my local dealer about auditioning a pair.
Dumb question #643: should speaker cables last a lifetime?
"@stereo5 shadorne has been posting here an awfully long time I am certain his post was tongue in cheek." I see that now he has something like 5K+ posts. In that case, I stand corrected. I’m was reading it on my iPhone and it didn’t show the numbe...
Dumb question #643: should speaker cables last a lifetime?
The wires will last unless you cut them or run over them with the vacuum.  Whoever said you need to replace them every six months doesn't know what they are talking about, just like the president elect.
Experimenting with reversing polarity to speakers
If you are using a tube preamp, many of them reverse polarity at the output and compensation must be made by doing exactly what you did..  All 3 of my various Audible Illusions Modulus series preamps and my Rogue Audio RP-5 are inverted at the out...

"The Triton Ones sound like they would work but I am a bit turned off by the fit/finish.  Those sleeves/and the overall unit look cheap. What do you think as a owner?"They look quite elegant in my living room and it has a very high WAF.  If these ...
Looks like B&K is back
Looks like they have gone to the dark side, class D.  I wouldn't touch one with a 10 foot pole.  IMHO, they are not yet ready for prime time.
Need Recommendation for Turntable--$2-3k
VPI Classic 1, new for 2700.00 from Music Direct.
VPI Scout or GEM Dandy PolyTable
Go with the Scout.  I have had mine for over 10 years and everytime I think about changing, I ask myself why.  The Scout is built to last a lifetime.
Looking for a Speaker Recommnedation
The GE Triton Ones is your best bet for the type of music you listen to.  I use them in my main system after going through 5 other speakers and they sound incredible.  Previously I had Vandersteen 2ci, Vandersteen 2ce, DeVore Gibbon 8, Von Schweik...
Burn in time for a new CD transport?
I have a cxc transport in my secondary system.  It has at least 200 hours on it and I didn't hear any difference from the first time I fired it up.  I got it new earlier this year.
