Need help solving hum problem Is the hum coming from the speakers or the amp's transformer?General things to try:1. Float or lift or disconnect the ground on all electrical lines to all audio components. This includes a tv if shared with the audio components or even the vcr if...
Sim Audio Moon W5 vs Electrocompaniet Amp Mr. Tweekerman, you are a diplomat and a gentleman. My apologies for offending any one with my sometimes dogmatic biases. My opinion on the amps do remain the same as I have listened to both the Nemo's and I owned the W-5. But they were completely...
Sim Audio Moon W5 vs Electrocompaniet Amp Not sure where celery got the 'warm' from. But I should expect such an ignorant response from one who thinks the I-5 would be the sonic equivalent of the W-5. Celery obviously never listened to a W-5. That's like saying celery's older bottom of th...
Solid State amp with wide soundstage Check out Odyssey Stratos amps at $995. Very highly rated by The Absolute Sound. Check out consumer reviews of this amp at audioreview.com. Should still be a 5/5 with perhaps 100 or more owners doing the reviewing. Rated second best SS amp by Inte...
Speakers with bass response? I don't know if the B&W 804's are full or limited range speakers. But if you're in the market for a subwoofer in the $1k to $5k range, I would recommend the following in no particular order:1. Aerial Acoustic's SW12 12 inch subwoofer at $4500....
Sim Audio Moon W5 vs Electrocompaniet Amp First, we're not talking about the SimAudio I-5 and the I-5 is most likely in a different (lesser) league than the W-5. Secondly, I've listened to Electro's best $15k monoblock pair amps and, yes, if you like lifeless elevator music with flattened...
Best Place Online For Upgrade Electrical Outlet I'm using PS Audio's Power Port outlets at $50 a pop. However, there is also FImpression (fim.com) outlets at $60 a pop. I would even recommend Home Depot's best 20 amp outlets at about $10 a pop.Any one of the above should serve you well.-John
Cheap tweaks...What would YOU reccomend? Tweaks to try:1. Replace your power cords whatever they may be with in-line power conditioners for each component. Drastic improvements found here.2. Install PS Audio Power Port outlets, or FIM, or even Home Depot's best 20 amp electrical wall out...
Help pick opening song for my film That's easy. BEGINNINGS from Chicago's Greatest Hits."Only the beginnng of what I want to feel forever."-John
Line Conditioners I'm using 3 Foundation Research in-line power conditioners built in Canada by Ed Wolkow. Two LC-1 models for the pre and the source. And one LC-2 model for the amp. They replace the power cord (hence the term in-line).I've experienced a vast inpro...
Wanna hear your soundstage walk around ??? A local dealer had loaned me the cd to try. It did seem to clean out the pipes a bit.-John
Best Kept Speaker Secret? Aerial 10T's without a doubt. I bought a used mint pair with the Santos Rosewood finish for about the price you are contemplating. Fit 'n finish are second to none. Wouldn't trade 'em for, well, most anything. You connect them to the right amp and...
Thoughts on the Anthem AVM 20 v. Integra RDC-7 Dbanit, I listen 95/5 music/HT and I have a 2-channel only system but I am using a Primare P30 pre/pro. Primare is a relatively little known Swedish company and the P30 retails for $4k but you can probably find it for a lot less. I've owned the un...
Which would you buy? The Sony DVP s9000es is a fantastic bang-for-buck player. I've owned one for the past year and only recently purchased a Sony SCD-1. Clearly the SCD-1 is a better player as it offers better refinements in virtually every sonic category as it shoul...
Can POWER CORDS really make that big a difference? Yes, aftermarket power cords do make a difference. However, purchasing in-line power conditioners for each component will offer substantial improvements over any power cord (IMO) and costs perhaps no more than a good power cord. Not only does the ... |
