Plinius vs. McCormack Ahh, Twl. C'mon now. Mgminc is just as entitled as the next guy to be wrong. I'm not going to say it, but if I did say Mgminc doesn't know what he speaketh, I'd know I'd be right, because otherwise I'd change my opinion. :)
Dedicated AC lines??? My electrical tweaks consist of the following:o PS Audio Power Port outlets for each circuit.o Foundation Research LC-1 and LC-2 in-line power conditioners for each component.o Three dedicated circuits/lines(two 15 amp, one 20 amp).o Custom 10 gau...
Which cables, power cords and conditioners. C. I'm using Foundation Research LC-1 and LC-2 in-line power conditioners for each component. I've notice better 3D soundstaging, lowered noise floor, and better sibilants to say the least. My 2-channel system is solid state.
Best way to compare amps? Bradz, please let us know what you think after comparing. I'd be very interesed in hearing what you thought.
Deciding on the right huge speaker To answer your first question only. Based on my reading the reviews only on the speakers you mention, I would select the Dynaudio Temptations. Not to mention that the Temptation's sonic characteristics are about 90% of the Masters which sell for $...
Speakers to hang on to for LIFE I've owned a pair of Aerial Acoustic 10T's in Santos Rosewood finish for about 18 months now. The 10T is a very nice looking full range speaker with excellent fit'n finish. The sonics are very good but you really need an amp with about 250 wpc or ...
PreAmp for Revel Studio with Rowland 10? I own a Primare P30 pre/pro to go with my 2-channel system which consists of Aerial Acoustic 10T speakers, Sony SCD-1 SACD/cd player, and McCormack DNA-2 LAE amp. In 2-channel by-pass mode (for 100% analog), it is a very transparent and detailed p...
odyssey amp's how do they compare to others Well said, Klaus. Some people will always be skeptical. The more info you give them, the more they love to fire back at you. From all that I've heard, Klause has really done a magnificent job of taking a product design, reworking it (with permissio...
bypass outlet and hook wires directly to romex?? Twl, I think I have a headache. You're obviously way into this.I know a few people at your level who also complain about the same type of thing. Because they cannot quite synergize the sub to the monitors as they see it should, they do away with t...
Best Amp for under 10K? The Moon W5 is a very nice amp. I owned one for about 4 months and sold late last year. IMO, my McCormack DNA-2 LAE is a better amp than the W5 though, especially in the lower bass regions. But they are certainly in the same league. I've not heard...
odyssey amp's how do they compare to others Thorty40, point well taken. And I've heard this point many times before. And because of what I think I know, I have in the past and do agree with you now at least to a very good extent. However, I kinda' bounce back and forth. For example, when som...
odyssey amp's how do they compare to others Hifying, you have every right to be concerned, suspicious, and even wrong. The european amp that you speak of is the German amp (not french) Symphonic Line.Klaus Bunge who is/was the U.S. importer for the Symphonic Line made a deal with them to bui...
odyssey amp's how do they compare to others They are supposed to be a fantastic amp. I've recommended them to two friends who purchased them and both had excellent things to say about them.I've never heard them but you just can't find someone to saying one negative thing about the Stratos.T...
Trouble Auditioning Hi-fi Components? In Kansas City area, there are only three high-end places worth considering. And two of them are an absolute joke when it comes to customer service and wouldn't give 'em another dime. The third one is quite good with customer service and wouldn't ...
Best Amp for under 10K? I agree with Garfish. Either investigate the new McCormack DNA-500 or get a used DNA-2 or DNA-2 Deluxe (about $1800 used) and send it to McCormack for the $2500 Rev A upgrade. There may not be an amp under $10k that could touch it. IMO.I own a DNA... |
