Please help I have a strange grounding problem Since you installed the FIM 880 yourself, you can float the ground yourself by simply tripping the circuit, disconnect the ground from the FIM outlet, and then test. Also, make certain that the house wiring to the FIM outlet are connected properly ...
Where to go from Odyseey Stratos monoblocks You might consider a McCormack DNA-2 Rev A. If you are not familiar with this amp, check out smcaudio.com.-IMO
upgrade question... Oh, did I mention the s9000es' cool little blue light?-IMO
upgrade question... No, but I would recommend you also consider a used Sony DVP s9000es SACD/CD/DVD player for about $600. This unit's performance is outstanding for it's retail price of $1500.This unit should easily be at least sonically equal, if not superior, to t...
Help with upgrade path Driver offers some very good suggestions and I would highly recommend them for anybody wanting to get the most out of their system. However, the situation Rooze describes has nothing directly to do with line-conditioning, dedicated lines, audio-gr...
Help with upgrade path My guess is that you are correct in your assumption that the amp is compressing the sound at louder and/or complex passages. You say you like the sound of tubes but as with everything there are trade-offs especially at certain price points. Congest...
Bi-wiring...tell me more Some to many will testifiy that bi-wiring typically improves soundstaging and imaging along with providing a more open and airy presentation. However, at least one white paper actually call this 'improvement' a distortion of sorts and after the in...
Was it worth the effort ? Advice needed........... Plato has a good idea. If that doesn't work, Sears sells a couple of bits that are supposedly quite useful at removing stripped screws and have Bob Villa's approval!!Perhaps if you treated this like a stripped screw and used the Sears bits?-IMO
Dedicated lines/surge protectors? I have a whole house surge protector installed by the electric company at the meter for $5 monthly fee. Makes for pretty good insurance too, since they'll cover up to $10k should anything be zapped by lightning.-IMO
Worried about my Sony SCD-1 One year old and still going strong.
Power Conditioners vs. Power Cables Zaikesman, just one more side-bar. How's the new preamp? And in comparison to the old pre-amp?
Pure Note Referrence IC / Your thoughts????? I also own two pair of 1meter PN Esilon Reference XLR ic's. I believe the PN ic's to be a good upgrade over my previous Harmonic Technology Magic Link One and Pro Silway Mk. II XLR ic's.Within days, I also purchased the Audience Au24 speaker cable...
Step-up/down transformers degrade performance? I would think it more sonically prudent and cheaper to convert or purchase gear that can be converted fairly easily to 240v.Often times you can contact the manufacturer who can provide relatively simple instructions for you or an electronics guru ...
Power Conditioners vs. Power Cables I agree with Garfish as he is correct about some to many power conditioners being enemic or restricting current draws from the wall outlet. But I do not believe the Foundation Research LC-1 and LC-2 in-line power conditioners fall into that catego...
Power Conditioners vs. Power Cables My list is similar to Lak's with the following exceptions:1. My Foundation Research dedicated in-line power conditioners have their own built-in power cables. Thus saving me a few grand.2. I've lifted/floated the grounds on all components for less... |
