To Rack Mount or Not
Installing a performance-oriented racking system with performance-oriented points, cones, or spikes can make a rather substantial improvement.Depending obviously on the quality of equipment, tweaks, and room acoustics/flooring system. But I would s...
Need Help with Technical Question
What ever you are thinking of doing here Paul, I disagree with your intended execution and believe you are asking for problems. My advice would be to part with all of your lesser quality surround equipment but keep your best 2-channel equipment inc...
Amp and pre for Aerial 10ts
Mjdraper, I used to own a Moon W-5 with my 10T's. The W-5 is an excellent amp in it's own right and in some ways was a real eye opening demonstrating the vast differences in amplifiers in general. However, it seemed to me that the W-5 simply could...
Jump on this please..........
Darrylhifi, are you demo'ing the Au24's?If you look at my virtual system, I have a pic where hopefully you can see all the connections at the back of my speakers.I have the Au24's mono wire with spaded terminations. I also purchased the 6 inch jum...
Electrical Question
Ask Lee Trevino. If lightning can strike a tree and then jump or arch to the person standing several feet away, it should be pretty safe to assume a lightning strike can easily jump the switch inside the amp and cause serious damage or explosion. ...
Any Suggestions?
I'm using two pair of Pure Note Epsilon Ref ic's (XLR versions) along with Audience Au24 speaker cables. The Pure Notes are very good. But the Audience Au24 speaker cables pretty fantastic. The Au24 speaker cables are somewhat amp dependent. But re...
Opinions on why this system is uninvolving
Znak_m, good to hear that you are pleased.Per my original post near the top, I have found that the amplifier is the most critical component for so many sonic areas including 'involvement'.Only because some to many amplifiers have some to many defi...
Any jumper suggestions for a VSA VR-4?
Congratulations. Rumor has it these are phenominal speakers. Although perhaps not the prettiest.I would enthusiastically recommend Audience Au24 speaker cables for starter with 30 inch jumpers.I'm becoming more convinced that bi-wiring is speaker ...
IC's for Bass amps,mid/tweet amps,general equip?
Bfm is pretty accurate about some to many of the ic's out there. However, I would recommend you audition any three of Audience's ic's for the bass. The Audience people do something to minimize/eliminate time-smear in their speaker and all 3 of thei...
High End Audio Equipment, Status Symbol?
Sorry, psychicanimal, but high-end ain't got nothin' to do with who you are.Your character is what God knows you to be. And your image what others think you to be. But then, you probably knew I was going to say that. You being psychic and all. :)-IMO
High End Audio Equipment, Status Symbol?
Oh, come on. The high-end has it's status symbol name brands. And we know it!! We just don't dare mention the name brands for fear of being attacked by the hounds of hell.-IMO
AZ Satori vs. Audience AU24
So long as you're digressing, I would highly recommend your considering a McCormack DNA 0.5 or DNA-2 amp with a Revision A or Revision A Gold applied.Because the VR4 GIII SE's are somewhat efficient, one or two DNA 0.5 Rev A's might be just right....
AZ Satori vs. Audience AU24
1markr and Bigshutterbug. Something tells me you both know exactly what a $20k speaker should sound like. And yes, they are not the most attractive speaker, but based on what I've read and what guys like you say about them, I think the aesthetics t...
Does it matter what gauge power cord that you use?
I believe it is mostly folklore that heavier gauge cables are a must. But I do believe that heavier gauge cables can potentially help compensate for possible design flaws, inefficiencies, and/or simply added for increased marketing hype. And of co...
AZ Satori vs. Audience AU24
1markr, how do you like the vr4 genIII se's? I hear great things about these speakers? Any truth to that? Also, I don't think you need to feel that you are compromising in the least by not running full bi-wires. The single runs with jumpers should ...
