Paper Cones in HiFi?
I don't know much about this, but some mfg'ers as well as others in the know, believe that pulp (not paper) produces a more refined sound than say those made of kevlar, aluminum, etc..I don't believe you should consider this to be an issue. Provid...
Why Does A Concrete Floor/Spiked Metal Rack...
If the isolation and dampening methodology really worked, then why does my chest thump and my car's inside rearview mirror vibrate like crazy at a stoplight when some nut 3 cars behind me has his subwoofer blasting?Perhaps this is a poor illustrat...
Why Does A Concrete Floor/Spiked Metal Rack...
You rocket scientists crack me up! :)Seriously thought, inpepinnovations with your shelf suspended by cables hanging from the ceiling, how are you able to provide an exit path for the air-borne vibrations captured as well as those generated intern...
Mccormack DNA 2 vs DNA 225
I'm not sure. I've owned the DNA-2 LAE (Limited Anniversary Edition) and now a DNA-2 Revision A. The LAE was rated by one reviewer as the best solid state amp (of many) back in 1998. As good as it was, the DNA-2 Revision A is simply quite superior...
Configurations
Although I believe that amplification is almost always the weakest link in most any system, I'd have to guess that in your case, the B&K Ref30 is perhaps the weakest link. I say that only because I've read several reviews in the past few years...
Why Does A Concrete Floor/Spiked Metal Rack...
IMO, Theaudiotweak and Viggen are both right on the money. Theaudiotweak mentions some of the many variables that come into play which reminds me what one very knowledgeable individual said not too long ago regarding this hobby:"The best thing one...
I have dedicated lines, but why is this happening?
I also agree that perhaps the AC is the culprit. Perhaps it's now drawing more current at startup. But I would seriously doubt grounding is the issue.-IMO
Sony 9000es question
There are several configurations for the display and blue light. There is one that will eluminate the display and/or blue light so that they shutdown about 10 seconds after a function has been performed. With this and a few other configurations, (l...
Why Does A Concrete Floor/Spiked Metal Rack...
Unhalfbricking, I don't think anybody suggested you continue using the same hollow rods once you emptied the sand. I suggested earlier that you replace the hollowed rods with solid steel rods. Others suggested you substitute the sand with micro-fi...
Which speakers excel at low volume?
I'd venture a guess that you're looking at the wrong component.I believe it is the appropriate amplifier (more so than the dynamic speakers) that will provide what you are seeking.-IMO
Why Does A Concrete Floor/Spiked Metal Rack...
I'd like to take a stab at your question. But I am not an expert by any means.Keep in mind that the goal is not only to keep vibrations from the floor from entering the rack, but more importantly the goal is to provide an expedient exit path for a...
Will dedicated power lines eliminate ground loops
BAT products seem to be more susceptible to hums than the average mfg'er.The generic response is:Lifting or floating the grounds or installing an isolated ground for these dedicated lines should help. Also, ensure that no TV, TV cable, satellite, c...
Isolation Questions
Plato, before I consider a response to your question, I'd like to ask; why do you wish to know?I ask because you stated above that based on your experience nobody can provide a definitive answer to Brimac's question. Therefore, I would think that ...
Isolation Questions
Theaudiotweak is correct. You cannot isolate vibration. You might be able to alter or even dampen a bit, but not isolate. Therefore, your best bet is mechanically transfer the vibration using appropriate points and racking systems.Vibration and res...
Mark Levinson 431 or Ayre V-5X?
Ayre makes some pretty nice equipment. However, there is a caveat or benefits of sorts with every one of their components. They use some special patent pending ayre-conditioner (AC line conditioner) and have been since 1998. Some claim it works wel...
