Which power cord should you buy first
I’ve lost count as to how many power cords I’ve tried. My modus operandi is to buy a pc for an intended component. Evaluate it there for two weeks or so. Then reinstall the previous pc - and try the new one on other components for a least a few da...
In the sand box
Here’s a post from 2004 by Barry, of Bright Star Audio.  He started tweaking in 1985. Since my listening area is on a suspended floor, several of my components are on Bright Star sand boxes - along with aftermarket footers.
Looking for a narrow baffle small footprint speaker
Boenicke W8: Diminutive size, narrow footprint, big sound - including bass. When I heard them at an audio show, I kept looking around the room for a large floorstander. These little guys completely filled the space.
What exactly is PRaT???
@stuartk You might check out this analysis, exploring how Little Wing in fact incorporates both straight time and swing, which is why it’s deceptively difficult to get right: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uGDYs__ZP8   Thx for posting a lin...
SR Tuning Discs, Psychoacoustic Bias and Listening Fatigue
Good advice. Don’t buy the tuning discs. Instead save up for a full loom of the Synergistic Research Atmosphere signal cables - with the tuning modules and ground leads. After 20+ years of cable swapping, my system sounds better than ever when the...
Room with glass windows as a walls.
This video from Acoustics Insider says that windows are relatively similar to drywall. Approach reflection points in a similar manner.

A Snake River Audio Signature pc is similar in nature to the High Fidelity - perhaps even better. A 30 day trial period is offered.   Chat with Jonny, the owner.

A thread from 2012 to 2021 - 74 pages long - High Fidelity cables.
Power cord upgrade
OP: +1 System synergy. I have Transparent Audio cabling from the wall to the TA power conditioners. Then Synergistic Research cabling to the components. Adding an upper-tier digital SR power cord to the streamer was a ’wow’ moment.  Ask if your lo...

Clipping with Separates with change of Power Conditioner[?]
There will be serious design & parts compromises when power conditioning and surge protection are combined in one box - at a low price. Too good to be true. Return the W-Audio if you can. Buy a quality, pre-owned, non-current limiting, power c...
15 amp circuit VS. 20 amp Circuit
The old-fashioned way would be to look up how much amperage is used for each component and then add up the total. The specs should be in the owner’s manual and/or the back plate. The amperage will increase for the amps during playback - so select ...

Dayton Audio SA 1000 subwoofer amp - repair
@brunomarcs My SA1000 didn’t shut down. It remained on with a high-pitched hum. Take the cover off and check for bad caps. Either leaking or swollen. Though the cap in the C6 position looked fine, replacing it fixed the problem. Good luck!
Isolation transformer question
lloydc You need to know that isolation transformers hum.   Mine don’t. If there’s a hum, that most likely indicates that there’s a gremlin somewhere else in the circuitry. Possibly a grounding issue.   Yet, poorly made transformers can hum -...
