Full E.A.R. + Spendor SP100R: cabling ?
I use Spendor S 100s internally rewired with Cardas [ except for tweeter , which is silver] driven by a CJ Primer 350. I have Cardas Golden Reference speaker cables [bought used]. I have been using VDH The First since the early 90s, now using the ...
what was your wedding song?
"I use to kiss her on the lips but its all over now. "
How important is ext. adj. for cartridge loading
I have never had it, have recently sold a Blue Circle which had rear panel RCA plugs and a Dynavector 75 which had internal switching which my aging eyes had fits with. Currently using a MF Kw phono stage with back panel RCA plug ins. I find these...
What's the best HDMI cable that you have tried ?
Most of the PC plugs are too big to fit the Panasonic plasma TVs that we use. I finally found a cheaper Oyaide cable that fit and it improved the picture.
what 's the best tonearm for turntable
I have had both the 801 and the 1100, but it was 25+ years ago. If I wanted to use MM I would probably go with the 1100, MC the 801 but both are good arms.
what 's the best tonearm for turntable
Check Vinyl Engine for arm length of Lustre and see which straight arm is a similar length. The 801 is a good arm, is there any particular reason you want to change?
restoring a technics linear tracking turntable
I might try a silicon spray first instead of putting more grease on top of the dried stuff. If you can remove all the old grease it might not be necessary. I use to sell these but never had to do any arm maintanance.
Philips 212 vs Lenco L85....
I think Bdgregory is correct; my 1977 HIFI Choice Turntables and Cartridges list a Lenco L84 and give it an average rating with no recommendation. It is regarded as being reasonable for the price, which was then 60 Pounds. The Phillips 312, which ...
Re; Linn LP12, what about the Cetech subchassis?
I am doing something similar, I have a 1985 Linn , just pre- Valhalla. I bought the Sole instead of the Cetech and a Mose-Hercules power supply. Also a new mat, new springs and a Jelco 750D arm. I got the springs from Spinning Dog for about $35 an...
Room treatment advice needed
I found that Ready Acoustics were very helpful and had good prices. If you will send them a photo of your room they will make suggestions. Totally transformed my room.
Cardas Golden Ref vs Anti IC vs Straley Reality IC
I sold my Anti for half the amount I paid for them and bought used GRs. Two of my friends and I have VERY different systems, The only common component is Graham arms and Golden Reference speaker cable.
What Step-up transformers are best value?
I am very happy with my Bob's Devices Cinemag step ups but I haven't used the ones you mention.
Jelco Arm mass and cartridges
Yes, if you got a headshell that weighed 8 grams the mass would be reduced by four grams and so on. MM cartridge compliance figures have dropped considerably since the 70s and 80s when many were very high so more may work than you think.
Thorens TD 160 upgrading?
I would change the mat. Thorens tended to have platers prone to ringing and the standard mat is not very good. The Linn mat is about $25 and should be a very worthwhile improvement. The various copper, carbon , carbon fiber etc would probably be e...
Bulk cables: Oyaide vs Furutech
I am using 3 factory cables from Oyaide and they are very good, I suspect the Furutech is as well. In my experience there is no method to tell in advance which will sound better in your system, assuming the same quality level. I would try to borro...
