Anybody see Jeff Beck on A&E By Request with BB Yeah, just happened upon the show during Beck's piece. Looks like it might be a good show to catch live. They are going to be pretty close to me on this tour. I may even stir my bones to go see this one,I've always enjoyed those two guys. Cheers,...
Names of Bands... I forgot to mention earlier that Lovin' Spoonful was taken by John Sebastian from a line in a Mississippi John Hurt song "Coffee Blues". Cheers, Lee
Names of Bands... Jethro Tull was a farmer-inventor born in the 1600s who invented among other things the Seed Drill for planting multiple rows at once. Cheers, Lee
How many CD/LPs do you need? I have maybe 2k cds at the moment and have culled perhaps another 1k. Lps about 1200 and have culled(sadly) another 600. The quest goes on for more as well as the culling. Funny how the lp titles I have passed on I miss far more than the cd titles...
Do You Remember Your First Music Purchase? The Dave Clark Five,"Glad All Over" and I still have it. These guys, I thought, were cooler and a bit more progressive than the Beatles at that time. Sadly, they didn't evolve too much further but put out some good stuff in that period..Cheers, Lee
5 best underrated or unknown bands and why? Michael Hashim, while not new or really "unknown", I feel should be heard and appreciated by more people. He's a tenor, alto jazz sax player and has a few discs out. I especially enjoy "A Blue Streak" which has some pretty good B-3 organ played by...

Todays Raido Stations suck Ah yes, radio is like anything else, money talks. We live in a world of mergers and comglomerates where huge profitability is paramount and all things that don't fit nicely into the corporate concieved mainstream are increasingly harder to come by...
Todays Raido Stations suck Corporate radio of today is absolutely terrible. Besides satelite radio(which I'm not really familiar with) one must stick with public radio and college stations. College radio is now and always has been the only real breath of fresh air on the ai...
Richard Thompson?? Walter, I have not heard his new release yet. His older things are wonderful like "Shoot Out The Lights" and "Pour Down Like Silver". Things of the last dozen years or so are great also. Few can turn a phrase like Thompson. Like "She was a rare th...
When did it all start? Mid sixties, fold-up suitcase type Zenith stereo was my first unit(Dave Clark Five,"Glad All Over" my first LP and still have it!). Then Lafayette integrated and tuner and then a Dynaco SCA-80 and Dynaco A-25 speakers then on and on and on.......I...
your favorite violin or fiddle cuts, and why? The violin passages in Vaughn Williams' "The Lark Ascending" and RimskyKorsakov's "Sherazade" are truly beautiful pieces. They take me away every time I hear them. Cheers, Lee
Richard Thompson?? That's too bad, I was hoping it would be on one of his own discs. Thanks anyway Walter. Cheers, Lee
Davis' "On the Corner" "On the Corner"to me is a killer percussive rave up worthy of a listen but not for the faint of heart. I went to see Miles when he was touring with this band but he had an automobile accident a couple of days prior and sadly was indisposed.Pretty ... |
