Mofi Ultra Tracker, reviews, opinions?
I have the Ultradeck Plus with the Ultra Tracker cartridge. I think it sounds great. Even better than my previous Clearaudio Champion Level II with a Benz Ace MC cartridge. Music sounds full and rich instead of lean and clinical. In the 2k range, ...
Turntable upgrade recommendations, please.
Check out the Mobile Fidelity Ultradeck. Made in the good ole USA and sounds great. It comes in $500 under your budget with a really nice cartridge.
McIntosh MC402
I owned the 402 several years ago. It's the only piece of McIntosh gear I ever owned. After owning some nice amps before the Mac, I felt the Mac was soft and bloated in the low end. It lacked punch and slam. I picked up a Pass X250.5 after that, a...
Filling speaker stands: sand, lead, steel, rice. Full, half, etc?
I use lead shot in my stands. Walmart used to sell it in 20lb bags, but not any more. Before you fill your stands with anything, make sure there are no gaps between the top plate/columns, and the base plate/columns. Some cheaper stands aren't buil...
What music or equipment gifts did you get for Christmas this year?
I got the Mobile Fidelity Ultradeck plus. I'm happier than a pig in you know what. It sounds wonderful, and now I'm listening instead of analyzing.
Hypex N core module
Take a look at the new Icepower 1200AS. There's a new kid on the block.
Thoughts on best budget phono pre-amp under $400?
Check out the new Mobile Fidelity units.
Amp recommendation and setup advice please
Those Neumann KH310A you mentioned earlier are in a totally different league than those other speakers you mentioned. They're also $4500 a pair. You wouldn't need an amp though. There are 6 of them in the Neumanns. I own a pair, and they sound won...
Please suggest bookshelf with best bass response under $4000 pr.
Well, if you check the OP's 2nd post, he mentions studio monitors, hence the suggestion. I don't see a problem myself.
Please suggest bookshelf with best bass response under $4000 pr.
If you can swing an extra $500, try a pair of Neumann KH310A monitors. They are small, they go low, and yes, I have a pair. You won't be disappointed. https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/neumann-kh310a
Walker CJ55 Motor
I think I've fixed (at least for now) the problem. I recently bought this table locally, and basically took it apart and reassembled it. What I thought was the motor making the tapping noise, ended up being a lack of bearing oil in the sub platter...
Does such a speaker exist?
I agree with Phusis - SP Tech (Aether) speakers are great. I have a pair of Timepiece 3.0
Does such a speaker exist?
My Neumann KH310A do just what you're looking for, and at less than half of what you're looking to spend.
Advice on stand mount speakers
Neumann KH310A - then you can sell your amps and recoup some money. They go really low too....
Does Aether Audio still exist?
Bob, you're still alive! Stick with it man, your time will come. Gear has come and gone in my house, but those 3.0s are still here. If you ever come across those magnetic grills.....Spence
