Are "vintage" DAC's worthwhile, or is this a tech that does not age well The old vintage dacs will sound absolutely wonderful but you will not be able to hook them up to all the new forms of digital equipment or computers but if you want to hear the best digital sound a vintage converter will stomp all over the new stu...
3D lifelike sound and impeccable measurements - mutually exclusive??? They are not exclusive in fact the best components offer fantastic sound and measurement but they are not the components that the magazines write about but the components that stand the test of time because they are so good and always will be.
Am I crazy? Definitely! If you want one speaker that will do it you will need an efficient large full range vintage speaker made by an american company prior to 1981 and i would select one of the big five american brands at that time.

moving from house to an apartment.. goodbye 802D's You can de couple speakers and subwoofers for apartment living but it is not the floor vibrations that will end your listening but the fact that most tenants will not put up with any music above a back ground level at all.

Speaker Spike Philosophy I will say that spikes can help on wood floors to tame the bass a bit but putting blocks of stone under the speakers control the bass better and sound better too as far as a concrete floor i have not found a reason to use spikes or stone blocks or...
What is this feature? I am not sure there is a name for it but i always turn my amplifier all the way down before powering down because that is how i was taught. It is a very nice feature to have though so you have no accidents while listening.

About the importance of the room vs the electronics setting up the system in the room and making sure it meshes with your room is as important as the electronics in the system. A lot of people waste much time and money chasing sound that setup and critical evaluation can fix instead of spending tho...

Two defective pieces in a row - unreasonable to demand refund? Get a refund it is obvious that mcintosh is not what it used to be anymore and i have felt that way for a long time.
Jazz listening: Is it about the music? Or is it about the sound? It is about both but when you get the best recordings of really great music the thought about the sound goes away and yes the better the system the more the flaws of most recordings are shown. When you have the best music and it is not recorded or... |
