Is There A Big Difference Between Subwoofers From Different Manufacturers
the big difference seems to the price.  ....the more you pay the more you expect. the more you pay the deeper the base, ( according to the specs ) big trap.

Not all amplifiers are created equal...take a listen to the Sophia Electric. They never ran out of gas for me in a large room and you gain the midrange...huge.   
Large speaker recommendation
I would strongly recommend the Wilson-Benesch speakers...great on classical where there are lots of nuances and micro dynamics, equally compelling handling vocals where they sound as real as it gets..  
Do these look similar?
I am sure it sounds much better then it would if it were priced at $2,300.

I like the ProAc monitors the small ones, very natural sounding plus efficient and for near field I hate speakers that are bright, forward, edgy.

Yes all the other speaker manufactures are doing it wrong. However so is Vandersteen..Just go for speakers that move you emotionally and to hell with this American insecurity to get : more bass "

Wilson-Benesch speakers are exceptional. They are one speaker I could live with. Rich midrange. They are fast, transparent,  high resolution, and if you upstream gear offers a good midrange. Personally I. built a system around these speakers rathe...
