Hi bstatmeister, I have the 3a sig, pair of 2wq subs and m5hpb ("b" for balanced xlr version) high pass filter combo that I put together over time. I can tell you that the 3a sigs are full range without the subs, rated down to 26 hz I believe. The...
BDP with analog outs
He could get an inexpensive outboard dac as well.
BDP with analog outs
You are correct, they really didn't have any real competition. And now the price's for their used gear is going through the roof. He may be better off with a basic CD player.Good luck.
BDP with analog outs
Some if not all OPPO players have built in dac’s. I have a OPPO BDP 83 that does. They made an SE version that has an upgraded dac for those that want to use analog outs that would be a great fit. The standard version is best if you just want to u...
Does anyone use wood for vibration control?
Couldn't resist could ya?
Audio racks
I second Mapleshade's racks. They are engineered to manage vibrations and they have VCS (Vibration Control System) platforms that complement the racks. A very effective system. Also the VCS can be used to improve an existing rack you may have.
Considering Vandersteen 3a Signatures
Tomic601Yes even better if funds allow. Personally I would love a pair of Quatro CT'sBut for sheer value the 2ce's or 3a sig's/ 2wq combo is hard to beat. It says something that they are both still being made all these years later. Someone must be...
Does anyone use wood for vibration control?
Hell the Earth is constantly vibrating and ringing from earthquakes etc. It’s a matter of degrees really. It seems all of audio is managing vibrations. Mapleshade’s footers are not cone shaped because cone tips can resonate at the wrong frequencie...
Does anyone use wood for vibration control?
Check out Mapleshade’s VCS Vibration control systems and racks. I find them very effective. I use their 4" thick maple VCS under my turntable and it made a very big improvement. Also have a 2" under my amp. I’m sold. But it is a system. You need t...
Considering Vandersteen 3a Signatures
Hello pg61. I have the 3a sig’s and a stereo pair of Vandersteen’s wonderful 2wq subs with their Hp5b (b for balanced version) hi pass filters. This makes for a wonderful sounding true full range time and phase correct system. I have had this sys...

Vinyl***What If***
John Darko of Darko Audio just released a podcast where he discusses this very topic with Jeff Dorgay of Tone Audio Magazine. Everyone on the fence about getting into vinyl should listen to this. https://darko.audio/2019/02/darko-audio-podcast-14-...
Vandersteen Sub woofers v Rythmik Subs
nobel100Thanks for the kind words. I bet your system sounds great. Would love to try the swarm out.So far we seem to mostly focus on trying to solve the bass problems with loudspeakers(subs). However the other way that seems to get less attention ...
Vandersteen Sub woofers v Rythmik Subs
I know that Richard V. recommends corner placement of the 2wq's and I have had one room that corner placement worked well in. However in my current listening room (and the previous one) the bass is not good in the corners. Every room is different ...
Vandersteen Sub woofers v Rythmik Subs
Looks just like 2wq. with more power and a new eq. Can't wait for some reviews. Thanks for posting that.
