Review: Yamaha A S-2000 Amplifier Just noticed a typo mistake in my review. No such thing of course as Bel Canto REF 6000 mono's - REF 1000 is more like it. Thanks for reading.
Shanling T100 to the T200 shootout I owned BOTH in the past. I regret selling the T-100 when I think of it.T-200: One major flaw (at least for me) was the noise made by the higher-speed Sony transport. Since this transport is up on top and not enclosed, the whirling noise drove me ...
Do people buy MAC gear for the blue meters How strange! Someone who buys gear for other reasons than the music ! For how the gear *looks* ! This is part of the motivation for high-end products whatever they are. People do not spend $10,000 on a Rolex watch to know the time, hell, they don'...
New Creek Destiny 2 versus Anthem 225 integrated The Anthem is a no-brainer really. I agree that it is a future classic. Everytime I listen to it I am just so damned impressed, this box probably outperforms most of anything south of $ 3,000.00 in my opinion. This is illogical isn't it ? This is ...
Review: Anthem 225 Integrated Amplifier Musicfanatic - Forgot to mention - I was ALSO once also infected heavily with the upgrading virus years ago (and it may come back who knows!).It has been quite awhile since I purchased anything expensive, so I guess I'm cured ! The Anthem 225 made...
Review: Anthem 225 Integrated Amplifier Thanks for your comment Musicfanatic, the Unico is one beauty of an amp for sure! I used to own one - one of the best sound for the dollar also.
Anthem 225 vs Yamaha A-S2000 Just stumbled on this thread - I did audition the Yamaha amp for a week prior to purchasing my Anthem 225. The Yamaha is a beautiful amplifier for sure, but the Anthem is effortless in power, and just sounds more organic in my humble opinion, as w...
Quick poll: Most enjoyable audio magazine ? About Sam Tellig (Tom Gillet).I actually find his writings fun to read, especially his ''wine & dine'' european trips (or other goodies) to manufacturers in exchange for glowing reviews.Unfortunately, his ''ears'' and recommendations have abso...
Sonus Faber: Concerto vs Home? Concerto: a bit more ''Romantic'' sounding, very smooth but not as dynamic as the Home.Home: More definition, high frequencies may sound a tad bright sometimes, very nice low-end extension for its size. Not sure about this last one: I think the Hom...
Review: Anthem 225 Integrated Amplifier Forgot to mention that the remote is one of the nicer ones I have had the pleasure to use. It feels good in the hand, has all all-rubber wrap-around, and most of all, it is fully illuminated so that you can use it in total darkness. Kind of makes ...
Help buying fullrange speakers for $1500 I have owned countless speakers over the years, including some quite exquisite (and expensive) ones. Find my related review on the Verity Audio Parsifal to this effect here on Audiogon. One of the steal of the century concerning ''budget'' speakers...
Class "D" amp? I do not have a clue. Do you? Last year, I owned a pair of Bel Canto REF 1000 monoblocks. I very much wanted to like them, great looks, nice tidy size, low energy, but I gave up after 2 months. Weak bass, nowhere the rated power output - and essentially the midrange sounded as ...
Speakers for a large room for around $1000 I suggest you give the Polk LSi 15 a try. A truly fantastic speaker for less than 1K (used) and will compete with many up to 3K. It's a no-brainer, read up on it.Good luck.
members with no feedback? Feedback or not, NOTHING beats a phone call to sense the ''personnality'' of the buyer. If I stumble on anything looking (meaning mostly sounding) like a wheeler-dealer fast-talking mister know-it-all, that's all I need to go to the next contestan...
Help buying a television LG 55 LH-90 series - get the biggest screen you can afford. This TV is an ACL with LED backlighting,(probably the cheapest LED screen on the market too even the review says its expensive) meaning it illuminates incredibly well and uses almost no e... |
