Do I buy an upscale TT? @mglik you have a very nice system. Whether the Commonwealth or the tricked out 401 are better than what you have will be very much down to the details of their builds, how far they have been taken. Hard to know on paper. Do you feel your table/a...
Small form factor, SS phono preamp recommendation. Konus perhaps?
Discuss The Viv Lab Rigid Arm @neonknight If you want to talk to some people that have actual experience with this arm get in touch. I know a few, and can inquire on your behalf. OK back to the bench racing :)
For the first time... I can't know what you are hearing for either digital or analog but guessing... It will take a Technics GR or a Lenco or similar and that, as a generalization, is the price of entry. Probably keep the carts you have.
For the first time... $1700 anyways....
VdH cartridge on heavier tonearm There is the math as @yogiboy said, then there is the occasional outlier in tonearm - cartridge synergy which you may get some input on if you mention what specific tonearm ( head shell etc ) you are referring to :)
Best cartridge for Frosten-modified AR XB tonearm There is a bias implied since I represent them for the USA, but we are all grown here ( almost all :) ) so you can check out and research. Aidas Cartridges Lithuania makes two models in what they call a Baby version, for arms that require lighter...
Best cartridge for Frosten-modified AR XB tonearm Would ~ 7g to 7.5g and 12 or 13Cu be a good match in your estimation? There are two VERY good carts I work with in that range...
If you had $12k / £10k to upgrade your analogue front-end... Channel D is good as is Konus, for current input. For clean and dynamic tube phono I chose to represent RADA Lithuania. Check out the Precious One
analog upgrade suggestions needed Can't comment on the Nott question, but as for carts Phasemation is worth a look and also Aidas ( which I represent ), the latter with AlNiCo5 and does combine warmth and detail in a great way. Have fun!
Cartridge "upgrade" to Dynavector XV1T @tatyana69 Triplanar arm Thanks. Great arm, and I still stand by my suggestion to listen to Aidas Mammoth Gold Mk2. That said people whose ears I am inclined to trust are going gaga for the top Glanz arms...possible that would also be i...
Cartridge "upgrade" to Dynavector XV1T Since a cart has to have a great synergy with the tonearm and is dependent on the phono it would be useful if you mentioned both. Based on your seller profile it seems you are a couple of hours from Z- Axis Audio. They are the UK rep for Aidas Ca...
If you had $12k / £10k to upgrade your analogue front-end... @cainullah if I don't upgrade my Moon Ace or buy a 390, I am stuck with MM carts. As was mentioned you may choose to use an external step up transformer and MC carts with your MM stage. ( although input capacitance of your MM input may be a ...
Anyone with experience mating a Kuzma 4Point 9 tonearm to a SME 15 turntable ? I have a client that wanted the direct drive STST Motus IIDQ { smart man :)} which I represent however he already had a 4pt14 which is a whopping ~ 2kg. We went with the unsuspended Motus DQ as a result. Sounds fantastic. Anyway that’s why it cros...
Anyone with experience mating a Kuzma 4Point 9 tonearm to a SME 15 turntable ? On a practical note; look up what tonearm assembly weight ( actual total weight not effective mass ) the SME 15 suspension can handle. Since they sell a version sans tonearm this should be documented. Kuzma lists the 4pt9 total mass as 920g |
