Why Do So Many Audiophiles Reject Blind Testing Of Audio Components?
@elapid Nice generalization- audiophiles are not reasonable men.....how can you lump us all together when we disagree on many things very often - that is the purpose of meaningful discussion. Audiophiles are passionate about listening to the best ...
Why Do So Many Audiophiles Reject Blind Testing Of Audio Components?
Please look back at PS Audio's video near the top of the discussion. It is right on the money. Now, some things are not easy to compare, like certain tweaks, acoustic treatments, etc., and correcting the volume for different outputs of components ...
Why Do So Many Audiophiles Reject Blind Testing Of Audio Components?
@darkstar - yes this will be perfect for you if you have a chauffeur and have him/her drive you around and you sit with a blindfold the whole time. Of course this will help only if you never intend to drive the car....only ride in it.
Why Do So Many Audiophiles Reject Blind Testing Of Audio Components?
Paul at PS Aduio's video posted above is right on the money. Keep everything the same, blind folded A vs. B for a minute or as long as you need to get a feel for it and then play the same thing on the B option. If you can't hear a difference, then...
Do you have ways to ease use of vinyl?
Best tonearm lifter is the Tru-Lift from Integrity Hifi in Canada. Smooth as butter and built great. They are super nice, and are glad to talk to you, but only sell through dealers. They basically configure it with stainless steel discs to make th...
What is the actual percentage of people exclusively listening to vinyl vs digital?
@fleschler No time to get to know any album. I am more like @mahgister than you, but not to that extent. I don’t know how many hundreds of times I’ve listened to “Kind of Blue” or”Aja” or dozens of others and noticed new things sometimes, especial...
What is the actual percentage of people exclusively listening to vinyl vs digital?
@fleschler Sorry for the mistake - I multiplied by seconds instead of minutes and didn't see the word POTENTIALLY, but you are making my point even more clearly. If you listen to 15 LPs a week, that's 780 per year or about 5% of your inventory, ev...
What is the actual percentage of people exclusively listening to vinyl vs digital?
@fleschler  Good that you are keeping track of the majority of your records. My brother in law probably has 1500-2000 records and ends up buying the same record twice (not to get a better pressing, usually the same one). He also doesn't dust them ...

I didn't say all $100K+ systems owners are like that @jss49, (I know @millercarbon looks at every possible component and tweak and @mikelavigne is about as committed as anyone in looking at all his options) ) I'm thinking of the proliferation of t...

I am amazed at the number of people I hear about on this site that have $100K invested in their current system (not including losses taken on past gear traded in) and how many are just counting one system that they use and not multiple components ...
What is the actual percentage of people exclusively listening to vinyl vs digital?
@fleschler - #1-do you have these 28,000 categorized in a spreadsheet? Is this part of a record store you own?#2- do you have them in their own special room or climate controlled garage?#3- how many do you listen to with any regularity?#4- how man...
What is the actual percentage of people exclusively listening to vinyl vs digital?
Hey @millercarbon - you're wrong. In my home, I have only one source plugged in. Turntable. Car & garage -  CD. Unplugged the Nakamichi CD player about 15 years ago when vinyl started back up again. Never tried SACDs, but I've heard they are q...
Surge protectors and power conditioners - Good idea or bad?
What else are you going to plug all those cords into? Power strips? They condition the noisy electric from the power company that causes lights to flicker occasionally. That power goes to your equipment. Wouldn't you want that smoothed out?
Why not more popular?
I had a pair of Alons that had the tweeter and midrange mount on top of the woofer, which was inside of a box. You couldn't tell because it had an interesting angled grill cover so you couldn't see there was no box holding those drivers. They had ...

Wow - if you are much taller than 6', then I don't blame you for not liking your head touching the roofliner.I guess for you to be comfortable, you have to get one of those big trucks/SUVs that the players in the NBA get.Beleive me, Porsche used t...
