Biggest audio hoaxes
CD players sound better than turntables. Worst hoax ever. Music industry wanted us to rebuy everything we owned on vinyl.Video industry is worse....VHS, Beta, Laser Discs, mini discs, DVDs, bluray. Anything to get you to buy the latest and greates...
Where are the young audiophiles?
Of course an architect cares most about aesthetics.....no surprise there. My philosophy is whatever sounds best unless it looks ridiculous or doesn't fit.I think that is true audio sickness, but some would say they don't care about ridiculous look...

Why not just get better speakers? For all time and labor costs, I would think it would be worth it.Unless of course you want to be a speaker designer.....
Where are the young audiophiles?
@ghasley - Sounds like the old Bang and Olufson products would work for your clients....much more for the look than the sound, although they did have some fans that thought the sound was very good (me not among them). Also, not all audiophiles want...
Where are the young audiophiles?
@ghasley - the market you are talking about Is something like the top .1% or smaller. Maybe a few of them care about audio, but will just ask someone to give them the best system for the room they have or have a room built for it.Also, not to nit ...
Where are the young audiophiles?
@ironlung - sorry you are down on the industry, disillusioned and miserable. Most of the stores I see out there are exactly what you say you need to find; someone who knows what they are doing and gives a s**t. They are the owners of the typically...
Where are the young audiophiles?
The neighborhood hifi stores aren't going to close....they already have. You have a Best Buy Magnolia in a good demographic region and maybe some home theater focused stores. The Best Buy stuff is expensive and since it is corporate, there are no ...

I agree with the concept of what you're saying Chuck, but in reality, most Porsche tinkerers have tuner shops do the upgrades of suspension, roll cages, etc. I don't know of many audio "tuners" out there, heck, there are hardly any repair shops.Yo...
Why Do So Many Audiophiles Reject Blind Testing Of Audio Components?
Can’t they make members register under a unique email address and restrict that address to one user? Once they’re kicked off they can’t come back unless they have a new email address. To make sure they’re not just creating more email addresses, lin...
How many vinyl albums do you own you listen to?
About 300 of which I listen to 90% of them, on the average 4 times a year. I think if you don't listen to them at least once a year, it's a waste of space and $$. Do the math. For me it's more of a limit of what I would play than a top number. Som...
True or False?
The more revealing a system is, the more likely you will be able to hear any change when listening closely. The magnitude of the change and its positivity is subject to interpretation and exaggeration.I have tried changes to internal vibration and...
Why Do So Many Audiophiles Reject Blind Testing Of Audio Components?
Can we please just put this discussion to bed? Obviously there is some benefit to blind testing, which takes some effort to set up properly, but it is not the be all and end all, especially for the situations where a test is not possible.
Do you have ways to ease use of vinyl?
@arcticdeath - the company is Integrity HIFi, but this is sold only through dealers. Usually, you can order through a dealer and Integrity will drop ship it to you. I would call them to make sure you order the right size. They might know of a deal...
Do you have ways to ease use of vinyl?
@articdeath - get yourself a Tru Lift as I mentioned above. No more worries about late night listening and falling asleep.Turntable will still spin, but at least your stylus won't touch the record and wear out prematurely. There's cheaper options ...
Do you have ways to ease use of vinyl?
@mijostyn - I’ve never had any issues with the Tru lift other than forgetting to reset it after it lifts the arm from a record before I put another record on. Of course then it restricts the arm from moving and makes it skip. It happened once in a...
