Cheap Speaker "Isolation" Solution for 300 lb. Speaker
Seems to me that one of the simplest, easiest, and relatively cost-effective solutions to what you’re looking to accomplish would be Herbies Giant Fat Gliders.  If those alone don’t provide enough isolation, maybe consider adding Black Diamond Rac...
Shortcut or badcut?
I highly doubt this will accomplish your goals and will likely create more problems than it solves.  It would help greatly if you would share what equipment you’re currently using along with a bit about your room and speaker positioning.
bookshelf speakers to replace my Maggies
+1 Boenicke W5.  Both Boenicke and Joseph Audio have dealers in NYC, and Audio Connection is fairly close by in NJ and also certainly worth a visit while you’re there.
Time to retire my McCormack DAC-1 ?
What sound characteristics are most important to you and what would you like to improve upon?  Lots of good DACs out there, so a lot depends on what type of sound you’re looking for.
Best speakers to replace Martin Logan CLS
There’s a pair of Joseph Audio Pearls at US Audio Mart listed at $13k but likely negotiable as they’ve been listed for a while. Also a pair of Usher BE 20 — older model but in new condition — priced at $7500 (original list $20k). Both outstanding ...
Advice on whether speaker upgrade is in order
What’s your budget?
Nordost resolution, soundstage and clarity with Wireworld Bass Slam?
I think mixing the Nordost with WW is a great suggestion.  I’ve had luck putting the more resolving wires nearer the source and the more robust wire between pre and amp.  I’d also suggest maybe picking up a pair of used Acoustic Zen Silver Referen...
Should I still buy a CD player? Suggest one?
@river251 — The Zen Mini does it all so would take the place of using a computer along with all the other stuff. Hook it into your internet and plug its analog output to your pre or it’s digital out to a DAC and you’re off and running. I was think...
I need help
Innuos Zenith Mklll is within your budget and definitely worth a look.
Should I still buy a CD player? Suggest one?
I too am sorry to hear about your unfortunate fire incident. Until recently I too was a streaming holdout, but I’ve converted and am very happy I did. I find the quality of streaming Qobuz comparable or better than spinning CDs, and although the c...
Bluesound Node 2i vs Upscale streamers
@ozzy62 — Good thread.  If I’m you I buy either an Innuos Zen Mini Mklll or even better a Zen Mklll if it’s in your budget from HiFi Heaven and try it in your system.  They have a generous return policy so you could do this with very little cost o...
Streamer + DAC or streamer/dac all in one?
Streamers and DACs are both progressing/evolving at a rapid rate, so combining both technologies in one box at least at this point seems a bit risky.  Then again, some of the better streamers come with DACs so there’s that little wrinkle.  Startin...
Salk bookshelf or Dynaudio bookshelf? Or something else?
There’s a pair of Joseph Audio Pulsars at US Audio Mart for $3650 (retail $7700).  They’ll do all that you’re looking for and more and would be a great starting point to build a system around.  If in the unlikely event they’re not to your taste yo...
bookshelf speakers to replace my Maggies
There is a pair of Joseph Audio Pulsars at US Audio Mart for $3600. Excellent imaging, soundstage, bass, detail, tone, etc., and also rate high on the all-important WAF scale.  Best of luck.
Tidal $5 for 5 Mo. Offer?
Qobuz was offering $15/mo (no expiration I’m aware of) for their hi-res subscription for early subscribers.  No gimmicks or strings attached (I feel your pain with Tidal BTW) and it’s been great.  I say screw Tidal and their BS, and even if you do...
