Would you Upgrade?
In my selection, I also need a speaker that will make poor recordings and older recordings sound musical.Well gee whiz, that would’ve been useful info to have shared earlier don’t ya think?  Were we supposed to just somehow know this was one of yo...
How to integrate stereo and multi channel?
Take the front L/R stereo output from the multichannel preamp (I assume a P7?) and plug that into the HT bypass input on the Pass preamp and critical 2-channel sources (vinyl, etc.) into other inputs on the Pass as well.  When you’re listening in ...
My ears are ready to retire!
I asked @analoguefan for more details before because I’d really like to help if I can, but there’s still nothing and I’m not going to waste my time making recommendations that may be totally off the mark because we have absolutely no parameters to...
Vandersteen 3a signature vs Harbeth 30.2 anniversary
I have the 3a’s and recently heard the Harbeth and am looking for others feedback. What did you think compared to your 3as?
Subwoofer Recommendations
How did you decide between the sealed vs ported sub on the SB2000?The main reason was you were only looking for one sub so thought space may be a consideration and two SBs are a lot smaller than two PBs while still getting you under 20Hz (-3dB).  ...
Marten speakers
Show us the evidence Marten! I challenge youWindmills had Don Quixote, we get kenjit.
Subwoofer Recommendations
I think you’re making a mistake going with only one sub with your budget as two subs yields much better bass integration and performance.  For $1500 you can get two SVS SB2000 Pros that go down to 19Hz and include integration electronics, or you c...
Trying to understand B&W’s trickle down strategy
So if you can stand what comes out of the expensive ones this trickles down to where you can probably stand the cheap ones too.Ha!  Too damn funny.  Obviously with the used 805s you have no idea if you’ll like them or not whereas at least you can ...
Receivers compatible with Infinity CS-3008 speakers
What’s the power output of your Onkyo?  The manual says your speakers are pretty efficient at 90dB and “compatible with an 8Ohm tap” for whatever that’s worth. Unless you’re a total headbanger with bass-heavy music I’d think 100Wpc should be suffi...
What makes speaker's sound big?
To me, there’s really no substitute for size in producing a grand scale and room-filling sound, the best of which by far IME are tall, line-array designs (Pipedreams, Nola, etc) and larger planar or electrostats.  Sure smaller speakers with better...
iPhone/iPad good as a source, or get a streamer?
Excellent feedback!  Thanks @calvinandhobbes.  I’ve been told by people knowledgeable in the field that a wired connection to the router is always preferable to WiFi, but there are also a lot of people here who say as long as you have a good WiFi ...
How to integrate stereo and multi channel?
How are you managing two sets of multichannel outputs at the same time, or does the NAD run through the Exasound?
Anthem amp to go with my 1140 receiver or are their better and cheaper options
IMO your best and most cost-effective solution would be a stereo integrated amp.  Why?  Because preamps matter a ton!!!  The preamp sections of AVRs are compromised by significant cost constraints and noise, so they simply can’t match the performa...
Power Amp suggestion
More detail, faster would be nice.I wouldn’t be looking at changing amps if that’s what you’re looking for.  If you really need a change I’d focus on speakers as you’ll get the biggest change, and IMHO speakers from Joseph Audio, Vandersteen, ProA...
My ears are ready to retire!
Really not much to go on here.  What sound characteristics are most important to you, how big will the room be, and what’s your budget?  The more info you provide the better the recommendations you’ll get.
