Cardas Clear Beyond XL PC Triode Wire Labs offers very musical PCs, and since they sell direct you might save $$$. If you get the Cardas Clear I’d order a TWL cord just to compare and see what you think, and they offer an in-home trial so it’s easy to compare. It’s impossi...
I'm not sure what I need Would I notice the Krell sounding significantly better than the Anthem while watching TV? Probably not. In your system I wouldn’t pay up much for the Krell as you’ll likely be very happy with the Anthem. And Anthem also has rock solid reliabi...
Am I nuts? As an owner of speakers that are no longer manufactured, I can tell you it’s no fun walking on eggshells for an impending disaster. It’s not worth it. If you listen to music constantly in fear of a catastrophic failure, it takes away from the ul...
Right-sizing the system / room treatment evangelist I completely disagree. If you want to maximize your enjoyment, use the larger room. Better systems need space to breathe and show what they can do. Unless you’re planning on buying small bookshelf speakers, IMHO you’re limiting your system perf...
Just a thought here but,,,,,,xlr adapters? I’ve been told by @bigkidz who designs high-end DACs that you’re better off using AES/EBU (the digital version of XLR) converters than using just RCA connectors. Could be wrong, so hopefully he’ll chime in here.
I'm not sure what I need I agree with @auxinput an Anthem AVM-60 or other used Anthem AVP that has the features/connections you need would be a great choice for your setup if in budget.
Cullen Cable I got two Cullen power cords a couple months ago. Took around two weeks to arrive.
Which amp for B&W 805 D3 and HTM2 D3 speakers - Rotel RMB-1555? No. Just...no. Yamaha better tan Denon. Listen to me!!!
Inexpensive speaker cables: any experience? Used Acoustic Zen Satori. End. Set. Match.
Any thoughts or recommendations regarding the Emotiva SE8 or REL subwoofer? I am not a bass freak, and would be more concerned about integration and overall balance. First, and most importantly, get two subs for music, not one. If it’s me, SVS has dual SB1000 subs at a discount under $1000 with a truly risk-free (inclu...
Which amp for B&W 805 D3 and HTM2 D3 speakers - Rotel RMB-1555? First, DON’T buy an Onkyo. Their reliability is atrocious, and worse, they’re now owned by a hedge fund or private equity firm that will only make it worse going forward. Next, and this will be a bit of a surprise because it sure was to me, I work...
Maggie 1.7i's lack detail. Ideas? Gotta ask, if you had the amp why did you buy a Marantz receiver and not just a stereo preamp? IME, both Marantz and B&K skew to the warmer, fuller side and less detailed up top, so I don’t think either are helping you there. Another issue i...
Power Conditioner question I currently have a Synergistic Research PowerCell 8 UEF. Wondering if a move to Transparent Reference Power Isolator would yield any benefit. Ooh. Not sure I’d do that unless you’re looking to change the sound signature toward the warmer, smo...
Cullen Cable Looks like he sold his business to Wyred 4 Sound. He called it a merger, but the important thing is that he’ll still be making cables and generating new products.
I need a subwoofer recomendation The SVS subs are nice, but I would say they have a particular sonic signature that is popular with the "consumer electronics home theater crowd". It's sort of a larger-than-life type boomy of sound that a lot of consumers find attractive, but it... |
