Need Recommendations for a pair of Speakers around $1,000 Some tower speakers can be filled with sand/lead shot that not only improves sound but would make it virtually impossible for a young child to tip over. Not sure if the Joseph Audio RM25s I recommended earlier can do this, but this might solve yo...
Looking for a change. What kind of improvements are you looking for and what sound characteristics are most important to you? Also, what’s your budget?
SVS sub owners, Past and Present I own the SB2000 and can’t think of one damn thing I don’t like although I do wish they offered speaker-level inputs like they do on the 1000. Sorry I can’t be more help.
Use or sell/replace Oppo UDP-203? i must replace my current AVR with one that has preamp outs so that I can run my mains through an integrated amp with home theater bypass. You Da Man! Not sure though why you said above you may need something to spin the occasional disc. Why...
Need Recommendations for a pair of Speakers around $1,000 These are phenomenal all-around speakers that are easy to drive and have good dispersion characteristics that means if someone is sitting off axis for music/movies they’ll still hear good sound (I’d avoid Vandersteen and Thiel for this reason). Use or sell/replace Oppo UDP-203? +1 @melm take the inflated $$$ and run. Since you’re obviously considering streaming, which is an excellent idea as you’ll discover worlds of new music not to mention the extreme convenience, this would be a great excuse to set this in motion. Dep...
Desktop Speakers The LS50s are also rear ported (although it’s a small port) so something else to consider, but I think the concentric design of the drivers makes them particularly well suited for near field placement.
Help picking an amp to work with my system I think the Bryston would sound better with your MLs. Yeah just run the front L/R preouts from the Denon into the HT bypass or other line level input on the integrated and hook the integrated up to your speakers and you’re all set.
Help picking an amp to work with my system No, you’re not wrong. In fact, since you’re 80% HT I think getting a sub first makes a lot of sense. However... I was considering getting a dedicated 2channel amp and use the receiver as the pre-amp for them. NO!!!!! I forbid you from makin...
Desktop Speakers I don’t know how they like being placed close to a wall, but the KEF LS50 may be worth a look. Best of luck.
Speakers for Second System What sound characteristics you’re looking for?
Is there anything to help using a computer from digital noise not that expensive Have you tried the iFi iPurifier 3? Maybe it’s time to consider getting a dedicated streamer and ditch the computer.
Honest Experience on Effects of Subwoofer Please Absolutely night and day. You either have a crap sub or don’t have it set up properly. Filling out bass is only one aspect a good sub provides — it also improves imaging, expands the soundstage, and enhances an overall sense of space. The effec...
Question On Connecting Multiple Sources to TV, DAC, and Power Amp THD is not a good indicator of how something will sound. Things like power supply, output stage, etc. will have a far greater impact on sound than THD.
Buying New TV Need A Soundbar Recommendation For sound quality and value I’d look at the Yamaha YAS 209, which comes with a wireless sub that likely will up your enjoyment factor significantly over a sound bar alone. Normally $350, for some reason it’s available on Amazon for only $220, whic... |
