A good cd transport for my Chord HugoTT2 DAC with Chord M-Scaler
Jay’s Audio CDT2 Mk3 is very highly regarded… https://www.beatechnik.com/product-page/cdt2-mk3
A persistent hummmm...
Try a cheater plug.
on the cheap
Maybe a used Bluesound Node.
I Got Ants in my Pants and Need to Dance
Marcus Miller’s instrumental version of Stevie Wonder’s “Boogie on Reggae Woman” is pretty funky cool. I don’t like to dance, but this one could actually get me moving given the right partner… https://youtu.be/bFPA4GNDyug?si=8njXyg2EVDRAYQy2
Songs you use when auditioning gear
Yesterday I listened to LPs of Aja and Gaucho back to back.  I wouldn't say Gaucho  was that much brighter than Aja. @drmuso I was referring to the CD version of Gaucho, which sounds like a lot of early 80s CD recordings in that it’s thin and g...
Amp — Leave on or turn off
Uh boy.
DAC suggestion for PC
I think step 1 for now, is the amp, as its my weakest link I have to imagine. Then speakers (which I had to do anyway, bringing the current ones to main floor for tv room) , then a streamer. I’d encourage you to identify your new speakers first...
DAC suggestion for PC
I believe the iFi Zen Stream works with Tidal and would be a big sonic upgrade from using your computer.  The Zen DAC is actually a good DAC that uses Burr Brown chips that many prefer to ESS DACs as they are purported to be more “musical” soundin...
Amp — Leave on or turn off
I left my McCormack amp on 24/7 (unless we were leaving for a week or more) and only had to replace a fuse over 20 years.  McCormack recommends leaving the amp on I think partly because many electronic parts don’t like constantly cycling between c...
DAC suggestion for PC
Get a separate streamer and ditch the computer before addressing the DAC.
Long USB cable recommendation
This is a lose-lose proposition IMHO. Streaming from a computer is bad, and using a long USB cable is also suboptimal for both performance and cost reasons. You’re better off selling the Node and use the proceeds and the $$$ you would’ve spent on ...
Value of a preamp?
So when all the impedance values are matched up correctly with a passive attenuator, then a more true to the source sound is being heard. @scm So then it becomes, when are all those pesky impedance values matched up correctly?  Impossible to kn...
Old phones as streaming sources
particularly in light of the science and measurements of some credible audio professionals that support the OP’s position.  And who would that be?
for streaming why not computer/galvanic isolation/DAC clock?
When I use WiFi rather than an ethernet connection there are no dropouts;  I assume that is better than bringing in noise from ethernte. No.  Just, no.  You are hugely mistaken. a mac mini is not cheap, but costs far less than high end stream...
Old phones as streaming sources
Hey @soix unlike some others on this forum I don't hold myself out as a self-annointed expert. I’m not a self-anointed expert, but it’s pretty clear if you listen to people here who have better streamers from the likes of Aurender, Grimm, Innuo...
