Component Pecking Order
Mine goes something like this (Most valuable first):1. My Apogee Duetta Signatures: Why, because they simply stomp butt when campared to almost any speaker I give a listen to. Replacement would be very costly with minimal gain at any price.Everyth...

Am i going to blow everything up..... ?
At 8 ohms and 91db the 50 watt Shanling monos should work well. The Shanling has it's own high quality volume control so you may want to think about a high quality switcher with three or more inputs? One for the the Rotels L+R pre-outs and another...

Dvd players will not convert to higher rez on any output except DVI which has copy protection. There have been players in the past that would, they quickly went off the market with a little legal action taken. You can find them used sometimes.Time-...

Analog or digital interconnects for cd player?
If the cd player has a better DAC than the receiver it could sound better. You will need to listen yourself because sometimes better is only different. Some people hear no difference at all so this could also be the case.Borrow so cables for the d...
Too much bass in room with sub?
The exaggerated bass is probably in the 50-100hz. range, you should be able to smooth it out a little through sub placement and x-over point setting. You will need at the very least...spl meter and test cd along with pencil and paper to make some ...
Blown Tweeter & midrange fuses Magnepan 3.6r
" open floor plan " this means your room is even larger than 15'x20'. Another thing to know is that your type of speaker does not sound as loud as you guess it is...a spl meter will show you this.I don't know your Krell amp but I do own a couple o...

RedbulletI don't think he was knocking it the way I read it.Dave
Dilemma
Pick up a sub and cheap active x-over...this will take the load off the HK and should have plenty of power IMO at 60 watts per. Worth a try as you need a sub anyway with the small maggies.Dave
What makes one good amp sound better than another?
Well, my reading on Krell amps is not that they have rolled off highes...it's that they have way to much high freq's and are hard on the ear!Of course, I own a couple of Krell amps so know that the truth is that they are pretty neutral and will ta...
Has anyone tried 2 amps in stereo mode?
I would not plug the amp into a power strip...plug it into the wall outlet. Cheap power strip will limit current when your amp needs it most.Dave
