Streamer upgrade? follow up. The OP is on well worn path, streamer, network and dac upgrades, and then you upgrade the upgrades, welcome to streaming!
life span/failure rate of filter capacitors? When I had my Cary amps, I was able to successfully undertake all repairs/upgrades with direct help from Dennis Had, great guy. I know he's no longer affiliated with company so perhaps not so great on servicing his designs? I'd go for the diy ...
Power cable break in? Refrigerator is good for inrush current, not so much for the continuous thing. A space heater is excellent place for burn in, these things draw a lot of current and voltage.
New DAC or New Streamer? It is true most off the shelf streamers use relatively less powerful processors for their lower inherent noise propagation, takes greater mitigation efforts to keep noise at a minimum with the higher power processors. Roon dsp is pretty awful,...
New DAC or New Streamer? I agree with others that streamer is most important, but then with upgraded streamer the dac or network will become weak link, and around and around it goes. In the end so many choices, I can't say with large measure of assurance what is best ...
Tune of the Day "La Nevada" Gill Evans from "Out of the Cool" Can never get enough from that album, highlight of last night's listening session, real cooker!
life span/failure rate of filter capacitors? I seem to recall reading that thread or another elsewhere with Cary amps of that vintage. I ran Cary SLM100 monoblocks back in day, had the well known issues with Jensen coupling caps, also had issues with maintaining bias on power tubes and occas...
Upgrading to latest router tech, and adding a LPS power No surprise this has improved your streaming. I've experimented with modems, routers, and lps to power them over the years, all can substantially improve SQ. Good idea to provide lps with greater amperage capacity than equipment requires, less he...
USB yet again One can perceive the complexities of streaming as a burden or a delight. I've found it to be much more delightful than burden, especially as the vast majority of my efforts have gone in direction of better SQ. Devoid these complexities I'd be pret...
USB yet again Optimal usb implementation requires quality rendering at both streamer and dac. This means usb boards with nice power supplies powered via dedicated power supply and top flight clocks on these boards. Far too many streamers are let down by less th...
Do I really need an " Audio Grade Network Switch "? @fastfreight I believe that's actually Telegartner switch. I don't doubt that may be switch that may actually do some good, much proprietary engineering here. This would be only switch I'd consider after my bad experience with audiophile switch b...
Has the ASR review/hatchet job on the Musetec MH-DA005 Changed Anyone's Mind? Its not bad unit, Musetec responded to ASR by stating they voice components, measurements may take hit because of this, Musetec also admitted they didn't have the quality of measuring equipment ASR uses. It would be interesting to hear what a ...
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC @charles1dad Very interesting piece at that price coming from Netherlands, home of some of best digital designers, for instance Taiko, Farad. Good find! @americanspirit Either the Mano or Holo would be big upgrade over any PC. I've not tried ...
Has the ASR review/hatchet job on the Musetec MH-DA005 Changed Anyone's Mind? I've owned 005 for a bit over three years now, still waiting to hear the sins of commission ASR measurements allude to. Based on their measurements I should be hearing a distorted tiring presentation, with small sound stage, 2D images, lacking in ...
Musetec (LKS) MH-DA005 DAC @debjit_g I may try another motherboard at some point, one I'm using at present was chosen by original streamer builder. He and the subsequent owner both compared to many off the shelf streamers, only the Taiko Extreme bested this custom build, b... |
