Perhaps a Stupid Question
If it is the original, I would suggest replacing the ribbed platter mat. I did this with my old P112-D. A felt replacement should be inexpensive. IMO vinyl should be supported under the entire playing surface and clamped to even out minor warps.
marble or granite slab under floorstanders?
There is a school of thought that says even with a concrete screed floor the Earth's seismic activity will affect loudspeakers with spikes. Similarly footfall on wooden floors will have an impact. There is an app you can download on to a tablet to...
Why hasn’t B&W ever entered the ultra hi-end for speakers?
At least two of our most respected reviewers here in the UK have 800 series B & W speakers in their own systems (Paul Miller of Hi-FI News & Paul Messenger of Hi-Fi Critic), and they are not alone. Our listening rooms are somewhat smaller ...
powercords

Interconnects and Speaker Cable, What in your history hit your pleasure button?
In common with Martin Colloms (Hi-fi Critic Magazine) I have been using Van Den Hul First Ultimate Mk II since they first appeared, having met and discussed the make-up of these cables with AJ himself. Not copper or silver but many strands of carb...
Linn Audio
After visiting many hi-fi shows here in the UK during the seventies and hearing the LP12 demonstrated by Linn personnel,  I was not convinced or persuaded to buy one (and the same applies to Naim gear). The LP12 was standard fair for many of the d...
Audiophile LP's
I have all bar two of the Nimbus Supercut records which were available from Practical Hi-Fi/Hi-Fi Today magazine here in the UK. Limited to 1,000 pressings, half speed mastered and pressed on virgin vinyl these can be found on eBay, but at nothing...
