Replace tubes yearly?
The Mullard M8080 that I ran in my conrad-johnson PV-14L lasted forever. Never replaced them.  I bought multiple pairs as backups because they are hard to find, but never needed them.

Seeking advice
I have friends in Maine where we lived many years ago. It was cold as heck there.  Congrats on the new system.  I haven't done a complete system at one shot since I don't know when.  I've pretty much upgraded everything these past two years, but ...

@zlone Your system looks awesome.  I'm sure it sounds great.  The cat and dog seem to be enjoying it.  :)

@zlone Well, that one looks plenty nice!    I think I'll have to be happy with my Coda No 8, V1 for some time.  It seems to work well with the rest of my system.

Final Analog Upgrades
@lewm So, I emailed Ron Sutherland.  He said that the suggested internal impedance of a cartridge used with the TZ Vibe is less than 20 ohms.  The old SL has an internal impedance of 30 ohms as you mentioned.  Ron said it might be fine. The new S...

Audiophiles and De-cluttering -- your journey toward both psychic and sonic improvement
To me, the ideal speakers for home theatre would be three identical speakers for fronts and center. Not real practical if your mains are towers.  My center channel isn't the same model or brand, but it actually blends well tonally with my mains. ...

I'm using a Hana ML cartridge with a Sutherland TZ Vibe phono stage. It's in your price range.  Sound is excellent.  I haven't heard the SL. I think it would be worth the money to go to the ML if you can swing it.  That's just based on reviews.

Help :( Speakers making constant static sound I cannot figure it out
I did have a conrad-johnson preamp that produced a static sound out of one channel. Replaced all of the tubes multiple times. Fortunately, the seller let me return it. From the research that I did, it could have been a resistor, but I didn't want ...

@carlsbad2 None of my 5.1 components are in the playback chain when I do two channel listening. They have zero impact on sound quality.  It does take up some space, but I bought a rack large enough to hold everything.  Movies would not be the sam...
