Anybody using the Opera Super Pavarotti?
Bobheinatz-Unfortunately (for my wife anyway), they would be a step way down IMO. Currently using a pair of Magnepan MGIIIAs w/ modified XOs that can really sing. They would be an improvement over the pair we have in our second system in the basem...

Anybody using the Opera Super Pavarotti?
Motorpsychos-I know about the Stereophile article from Sam's Space, I had that issue on the sofa in our family room - I suspect that's what triggered the comment from my wife... I was hoping a 'goner was using them in real life. Thanks!
What's the best dirt bag speaker you have heard?
How about a pair of Sound Dynamics RTS 3's? paid 179.00 for the pair and have been listening to them all day on my second system. There is no way these things should sound as good as they do.

Insurance rider for your gear?
Thanks to everyone for the great responses. My insurance company told me today that an additional rider would be a good idea as an adjuster that may process any claim I make might or might not have a clue as to the replacement value of my equipmen...
Can someone recommend a few Joni Michell albums?
I have to second the choice of Hejira. The bass playing of the late Jaco Pastorius on that LP is incredible. Miles of Aisles w/Tom Scott's horns is also a great choice.

Thanks everyone for the input! I can always rely AGoners. Probably will give it a try. As a network admin guy, I have a couple of 1000 ft spools of Belden Datatwist 1585A verified Cat 5 in my office. I've been staring at it for a couple of days sa...
Audiogon/Asylum and magazine reviewers posts
I wonder if Mr. Rubinson's current opinion has anything to do with the post here back in early June I left regarding his boorish behavior I witnessed in an elevator at the HE show in NYC. I think the thread in which I posted was titled: "Weirdest ...
Magnepan MG1 rebuilds?
I spoke to the folks at Magnepan, and in fact, they no longer repair or rebuild the MGI. I have decided to attempt the task myself. I purchased the tweeter repair kit for the MGI and a new pair of socks for the panels.I have gleaned some repair/re...
Innaugural DVD
How about a film entitled: Baraca. It was shot in 27 different countries around the world on 70mm film. It's a show piece rather than a movie in that it is scenes from around the world set to music and sound effects. Baraca translated roughly mean...
Ambient / New Age Anyone?
TAS released a compilation CD a few years back (long since out of print), entitled Hearts of Space. Mainly a mix of Electronica and New Age. Very well produced. I also recommend Steve Reich's recording on the Private Music lable of a work called G...
