How to respond to those who say it's not a hobby?
It's your hobby, you needn't defend it to anyone. Short form answer to anyone who says otherwise: "F you and everyone who looks like you" ;)
How much LF info on LPs?
If you doubt the exsistence of LF info on LP, I would direct your attention to several recordings that prove that it IS there:DAFOS - Mickey Hart/Airto/Flora Purim. Reference Recordings 45 RPMRespighi/Church Windows - Also 45 RPM Reference Recordi...
Greatest Guitar Band
My vote is for the Dead. Garcia/Lesh had a synergy that was other worldly. "Hollywood" Bobby Weir filling in the spaces between Jerry and Phil. The original New Riders of the Purple Sage with Dave Nelson, John "Marmaduke" Dawson and Buddy Cage, som...

B&K vs Adcom – opinions please
My post was based on my own personal tastes and experience. My ST140 is one of the first few "iron core" transformer amps that put out 70 WPC hence the moniker ST140. Shortly after, B&K went to a toroid and upped the WPC to 105. The original 5...
Any AudiogoNers Winston Cup fans?
I'm glad to see so many fans of racing of all kinds here. Despite my previous post, I do like Tony Stewart. He does seem to have a self-destruct mechanism though. I only made the comment because I have been a Mark Martin fan for a long time and re...
Any AudiogoNers Winston Cup fans?
Blkadr-You are so right! I thought for a while last year that he might be able to pull off the "champpeenship" He is consistant, as well as being a low key class act. I don't begrudge Stewart's win last year, but I was hoping to see the usual Tony...
Any AudiogoNers Winston Cup fans?
Kinsekd-A Ward Burton fan. Me I don't work for, nor do I need to avail myself of Mark Martin's sponser's services ;)
grateful dead remasters
Most of the Dick's Picks series have very HQ sound given the fact that they were taken from live tapes. I would draw your attention to Dick's Picks Vol 3 May 1977 from Pembroke Pines, FL. This recording was made by the famous Betty Cantor-Jackson....
B&K vs Adcom – opinions please
Wow- tough choice as far as I'm concerned. I have used both the Adcom GFA 535 and the B&K ST140 amps to drive a pair of Magnepan SMGa speakers in the late 80's. I liked what both could do with these relatively inefficient speakers in the small...
Any AudiogoNers Winston Cup fans?
Lugnut-Bonneville and Black Rock are my other two performance car fetishes! There is something wild about flat out "how fast can you go" Gary Gabelich was one of my idols as a kid.
Clean Your Cables???
Using a static sheet will also leave your cables smelling just washed fresh ;)Ernie is right. Humidify, humidify, humidfy! It will also greatly reduce the chances of a damaging static discharge to the caps in your pre and around your turntable.
DIY Record Shelves?
Thanks to everyone for the responses.Shersta: I have one similar to yours. It's a record rack from a library that got rid of it's LP collection. It's full!Rives:Thank you! This is just what I was looking for! I downloaded and printed the plans and...
Opinions on Sunfire, Carver Lightstar amps
Bob Carver's Signature products are excellent performers. I think they are far better than most folks give them credit for. They are built like tanks, very good looking, high quality input and output connectors (much higher grade than the non-sign...
