The Monkees TV show was a surreal experience much like "H.R. Puffinstuff". Remember that? "Aunty Grizelda" and "Pleasant Valley Sunday" were among the tunes that got me into buying records. I still have those Colgem lable monos. 
How many LP's do you own? How long did it take?
Started back in the late '60s with "The Monkeess" (RIP Davy Jones) and have been at it ever since, including still having the ones I bought back then, including an April 1973 Harvest DSOTM. Total is around 4K-4500
