Lyra Cartridges Fair warning on ordering from Lyra. I ordered a new Lyra Kleos cartridge from a well known dealer over five months ago. It still hasn't come in from Japan. Don't know what the hold-up may be. Checking in with the dealer a month or so ago garnered ...
For those of you who had spent over hundred thousand dollars for your sound system. My regret is not having the $100,000, or even $50,000 to spend on a system to be qualified to contribute to this thread.
Bookshelf Speakers Transport by Airplane - Checked or Hand Luggage Is a road trip out of the question? I love long drives and the things you can see and experience on the way, especially on off the beaten path routes. But not everyone does and gas is so expensive nowadays. Just a stray thought. Billie or Ella? Maria or Renata? Technique or feeling? Frogman, very nice selections all. Thanks for posting them. Lester Young is a particular favorite and it was nice to hear him playing alongside Ella. I love any of the music where he accompanied Billie Holiday too. Both he, Coltrane and Charlie P...

Billie or Ella? Maria or Renata? Technique or feeling? Thanks tablejockey. I'll check the Decca and early Verve material out. That sounds like what I'd be looking for.

Noromance, you’re no doubt correct, but it shouldn’t make much difference in my case knowing to know which is doing what, as it’s highly doubtful I’ll ever be upgrading these components again. I’m just hoping together they make a significant impro...
Billie or Ella? Maria or Renata? Technique or feeling? Tylermunns, just as an example, Miles Davis' "Kind of Blue" or "Birth of the Cool" recordings as opposed to his "Sketches of Spain" or Louis Armstrong's "Hot Five and Hot Seven" recordings as opposed to His "Hello Dolly" material. Mike
Billie or Ella? Maria or Renata? Technique or feeling? I’m a great admirer of Billie Holiday’s singing and have most of her recordings. I would like to acquire some Ella Fitzgerald jazz recordings as well. Most of what you most commonly see of her work are the the "Songbook" type recordings like the C...
IsoAcoustics Gaia w/MAGICO I’ve Gaias on my Magico A3’s which are on a solid 3/4" oak floor. The bass response tightened up most noticeably, and the sound stage instruments and vocals became more defined relative to one another. If you read the ads and reviews for the Isoac...
Isn't it really about quality of recording? Some old favorite recordings that always sounded fine on my old system really do sound terrible on my much improved new system. I’ve mentioned it before, but when the deficits in the recordings of the original vinyl pressings of Layla and Let It B...
Dynaudio - Made in China vs Denmark Why would you want to buy anything from a country known for poor quality control and cheap labor. You get what you pay for. Not to mention China has concentration camps for Muslims incarcerating 1-2 million, not to mention wiring Muslims homes so ...
