VPI Fatboys versus others in its' tonearm weight class.
Will do. Thanks, Mike
Billie or Ella? Maria or Renata? Technique or feeling?
Thanks tablejockey. I'll check the Decca and early Verve material out. That sounds like what I'd be looking for.
Billie or Ella? Maria or Renata? Technique or feeling?
Maybe I’ve used poor terminology. to describe what I’m looking for in Ella Fitgerald recordings. I’d prefer to avoid the Gershwin or Cole Porter Great American songbook type material is all. For instance, I’ve most all of Miles Davis records throu...

Noromance, you’re no doubt correct, but it shouldn’t make much difference in my case knowing to know which is doing what, as it’s highly doubtful I’ll ever be upgrading these components again. I’m just hoping together they make a significant impro...

Tylermunns, just as an example, Miles Davis' "Kind of Blue" or "Birth of the Cool" recordings as opposed to his "Sketches of Spain" or  Louis Armstrong's "Hot Five and Hot Seven" recordings as opposed to His "Hello Dolly" material.  Mike

I’m a great admirer of Billie Holiday’s singing and have most of her recordings. I would like to acquire some Ella Fitzgerald jazz recordings as well. Most of what you most commonly see of her work are the the "Songbook" type recordings like the C...
IsoAcoustics Gaia w/MAGICO
I’ve Gaias on my Magico A3’s which are on a solid 3/4" oak floor. The bass response tightened up most noticeably, and the sound stage instruments and vocals became more defined relative to one another. If you read the ads and reviews for the Isoac...
Isn't it really about quality of recording?
Some old favorite recordings that always sounded fine on my old system really do sound terrible on my much improved new system. I’ve mentioned it before, but when the deficits in the recordings of the original vinyl pressings of Layla and Let It B...
Dynaudio - Made in China vs Denmark
Why would you want to buy anything from a country known for poor quality control and cheap labor. You get what you pay for. Not to mention China has concentration camps for Muslims incarcerating 1-2 million, not to mention wiring Muslims homes so ...

Ghdprentice, Congrats on your new tonearm. Glad to hear you’re getting some real enjoyment out of your upgrade. What differences have you experienced listening to your records with the new Ekos SE arm installed?. That’s a lot of records you have....
How do you judge audio components and speakers?
Ghdprentice, although your weight comment is a bit tongue in cheek, there probably is a direct correlation between component quality and weight. Well built products don’t skimp on materials that make them solid and well constructed, so weigh more....

Todd, thank you for sharing your experience with your gimbaled Fatboy. I hope my results are as good as yours.. I’ll listen for the qualities you describe when the Lyra Kleos cartridge finally arrives. The Fatboy is already at the dealer who’ll be...
