Which band IS really America's Greatest (rock & roll band)? Big Brother and the Holding Company with Janis Joplin at the helm. Their one album at the Fillmore West was bold, brash and outstanding in every way, and in my opinion outshines all other American groups of much longer duration. Beach Boys were gr...
Road trip to demo $10,000 speakers My apologies fsonicsmith, don’t know what I was thinking. Everybody misspells my last name, O’Neill too, so I’m usually conscientious about that type of thing. I won’t fail you again. Tomic601, you’re lucky to have seen the Pretenders live. The cl...
Road trip to demo $10,000 speakers Thanks Tomic60. The Magico purchase saved you a trip flying out to Roanoke to set up Vandersteen Treo’s. The Treo’s came in a close second to my ears, and were great recreating vocal performances. Don’t see how anybody could go wrong with them.Lar...

Road trip to demo $10,000 speakers Twoleftears, good call. It is Audio Exchange on West Broad St. I was thinking of, not Audio Art. As far as the "boonies go, my next door neighbors are cows, so I'm feeling this locale qualifies for that appellation. I love the countryside though, ...
Best building material for vibration free shelving rcronk, yours is the exact situation I've got here. What I figured on doing is to raise the flat screen TV which covers the existing opening, only high enough to make a space for my VPI turntable to set, and high enough to be able to remove it's d...

Room placement for Vandersteen Treo CT That's good advice to differentiate between quantity and quality of bass. I'll keep it in mind when I'm listening to speaker demos this week, hopefully. I've got to organize all these good tips I've been getting. Maybe cutting and pasting a cheat ...

Best building material for vibration free shelving n80, you speak the truth. Years ago old pine, especially heartwood could be used for flooring due to its hardness, for example. Couldn't imagine any pine you find nowadays at the big box stores being used for that purpose. Mike |
