My LP couldn't beat my CD, until now
First, you should ditch this VPI flimsy creature. Save yourself hundreds and buy classic Technics 1200mk2, which is widely available or look for very good Japanese turntables from '75-'85.
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
There is a chance to buy new Technics T4P version of 100CMK4 cartridge. It is not cheap (like $770). I have Technics accessory mount for T4P on SME tonearm mount. So, what is your suggestion: to pass or buy?
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Strangely, Raul, that none of Shures made it to your top list...I agree that Shure V15 V is good life style cartridge: good for some types of music and for some mood. Tracking is perfect. Is V15 V MR better?
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
thanks, I read this article and searched the web. I'm looking for first hand listening experience with MA electrets.
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
I'm wondering how Micro Acoustics cartridges sound comparing to best MM out there? They are using electret principle and eq network inside the body. Therefore I'm asking...
New Audio Technica AT33EV Cart
Looks like another in the 33 family. I see that the cantilever material is tapered duralumin instead of boron in 33PTG, output is less and the impedance 10 Ohm is lower. You can already buy it from various Japanese sources.

How do you level your turntable?
buy some level of just a vial that has clear precision specs from manufacturer, usually from Japan, Europe, USA, CanadaLevel the turntable, not the plinth. Ideally the tonearm headshell and turntable should be level.
Technics SL1200: Baerwald or 1200 white gauge?
|Humorous read, but I won't bang my head against this wall. I |agree with Tvad. It really isn't an issue of anyone having to |have the MintLP to enjoy their vinyl. That is certainly true |and maybe $100 is a lot of money these days. However, this ...
Technics SL1200: Baerwald or 1200 white gauge?
|There is much more involved than overhang.what more, VTA?no way you can dial the VTA visually unless you are using some powerful microscope that can focus where your stylus contacts the LP and measure the angle on say computer screen. Dialing VTA...
Technics SL1200: Baerwald or 1200 white gauge?
Dan, how dare are you to criticize technics gauge?! it was precision molded on multimillion dollars Swiss made equipment armed by proven rules of divine geometry.Tvad, the technics factory aliment sounds that good so, I don't have any need to go to...
Technics SL1200: Baerwald or 1200 white gauge?
Curio,if you want to spend $110 of piece of etched mirror - go for it.Think about this: team of Matsushita engineers designed the tonearm and headshell overhang to be 52mm (as per their gauge). Just put you cartridge square in the headshell (use c...
I need an economical but good phono preamp?
I'm suggesting to hunt some studio vintage preamp on ebay:QRK Ultimate, better Shure se22 (Urei 1122) or event better Shure se20.
Technics SL1200: Baerwald or 1200 white gauge?
2 Curio, don't worry much. The Technics gauge provides the geometry the arm was designed for. I never experienced tracking problem using this gauge. Use the small screwdriver, the one that comes with cartridges, to see of the diamond tip and the en...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Re: On a heavy arm, the MM will usually sound heavy. Some of better MM cartridges have dynamic compliance of 9-12 cu. They prefer arms with effective mass of more then 15 g.
