Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
I can say that the sound is more "complete" that most, albeit more forward that Signet TK10MLII, for example. The timbre is cooler then Technics EPC-205IIL, but there more life, breath and naturalness that Audio Technica AT20SS. As I said before S...
Micro Seiki BL91
it took me 6 month to get excellent sound from MA-505 II tonearm.I think that main culprit was the headshell. Not the original Micro Seiki, not Technics and Sumiko 12gr worked fine. Until I found the Audio Technica 12 gr headshell from 80s (curren...

Finally I can recommend Shure ML-140HE. Arm matching was quite long, but it works perfectly on Acos (Lustre) GST-1 tonearm: revealing and full bodied.

Taviran, the SL-1200Mk2 is much better. I hear that signature MC ringing in EMT sample. Don't know if it is a platter or the cartridge itself. The ringing has standard Moving Coil cartridge glare pattern, but I heard the same on other turntable man...

I own the Astatic MF-100 and have a copy the spec herehttp://www.flickr.com/photos/7794685@N03/3352033169/I don't know about MF400, but I guess that it might probably have an elliptical or spherical stylus and/or probably not a nude one. I'm basin...
Tracking error distortion audibility
if the tonearm is aligned to closer to zero tracking error at the inner grove you should not hear any distortion or mistaking if you stylus has a good polish, cartridge suspension is good and tonearm is good mechanical match for the cartridge. Mas...
JVC MC1 Moving Coil Cartridge - Heritage?
I own JVC MC-2 cartridge. Is is excellent, much better then the current Audio Technica crop of MCs. Excellent on jazz and small ensembles. I'm using it with matching JVC MC-T100 step-up transformer. Here are some results from german stereoplay maga...

To my surprise Ortofon M20FL Super is indeed a very good magically sounding cartridge.

I'm now listening to Technics EPC-205CIIL cartridge. Sounds incredible. Strange, but I've never seen MM cartridge with such low DC resistance of 30 Ohm.

Curio, you bold statement is very soothing for all us Technics sl-1200mk2 owners :)
What cartridges under $800 outperform DL-103R?
"T carts having a compliance of 40 x 10-6cm/dyneActually, they are 10 x 10^-6 cm/dyne dynamic compliance at 100 hz, higher for 10 Hz. 40 is unheard from MC cartridge.
Good cartridge for playing rock
Nagaoka JT-555 - crazy, biting fire guitars, loves dense music.Micro Acoustic 630/830. Very fast cartridge, scary dynamics.Audio Technica AT155LC - no need to care or listen - music just flows into you.Audio Technica AT20SS - to add body and wet d...
What is the best MM or Hi Output MC cart for $250?
The best will be to buy AT120-130-150-160 used body and new NOS 155LC stylus for it. Or, even better, AT20SS (SLa, Sa) used body and new original AT20SS stylus for $110 from lpgear.
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
having just installed Micro Acoustics 630MP I can say this cartridge is very special indeed.
Technics SL1200: standard overhang gauge or MintLP
Please state your needle shape.Technics tonearm was designed with 52mm (from the tonearm tube end) to the stylus in mind, giving less distortion at the end of the LP then Baerwald (equal distortion) approach. I don't care how you measure this dist...
