50 years of Hip Hop- How Come?
Look, hip-hop has been a cultural mouthpiece for decades. It's still the most widespread music genre in the world, along with jazz. Cultural gatekeepers and bigots will deny its value by pointing out the superficial and the extremes while resistin...
50 years of Hip Hop- How Come?
@unreceivedogma Nice list. The most recent died in 1996, so you're missing out on the last 30 years or so of the genre.  And while a lot of hip hop indeed promotes and glorifies violence and misogyny, much of it does not. Furthermore, a lot of ro...
Made in USA
Here's a memory lane walk that doubles as a eulogy to what used to be made here:
Made in USA
The whole "let's support our own" seems a bit paranoid. Look, Ive happily bought local (Herron, Decware, Schiit, Maggie, and others) when appropriate, but as many people have already pointed out, nationalism and economy is a dinosaur paradigm.  B...
Is R.E.M. underrated by new music nerds?
Idk; Out of Time was a benchmark album of the early 90's. It set up Automatic before the pivoted to Monster. I just found an original pressing of Out of Time and was transported not just back three decades but to a solid album.  Still, think of t...
A public service announcement
@pwoodard922 Funny how that works. Once of the better end results of alcohol I can think of.
A public service announcement
So true. Especially with paypal credit
Herron VTPH-2 added to system (almost)
These are exquisite! And with Keith now retired, few and far between.

@michaellent I assume he was being dry, tho sarcasm is hard to pick up online. You bring up a good point about the sheer number of hours needed to listen. I'm not one to hold on to records or books or media I no longer listen to or read.  @mijost...

Oh no; he's back.
What speakers have you mistakenly let go and then later repurchased?
@grannyring Why's that?

Reference 3A de Capo-I's. Had a beautiful cherry set that I sold when I moved to Acoustic Zen Adagios. Seven years and six sets of speakers later, I saw a pair in maple show up and I couldn't resist. They're now ensconced in my new, smaller listen...

@tomic601 Yeah, I get pretty anal about cartridge set-up: Fozgometer, Feikert Protractor, USB micro and protractor for VTA, digital VTF. Half the fun is in dialing in as close to perfection as one can get.

@rauliruegas Nah. I still love vinyl to much to give up on it. And though I think/hope @mijostyn is being sarcastic, I doubt I'll ever have 2000 lps. I actively listen to all my vinyl steadily. And there are many jazz lp's I can't find on streamin...
I feel bad for Generation X and The Millennial's
If you stream, how many Boomers actually explore the genres? Like, click on Tidal "Hip-hop" or "Indie" and listen to a few songs from 10-15 newly released albums? I mean, it's easy to shy away from genres we don't like, but there's always good gem...
