A little puzzled by my newly acquired Yamaha A-S801
A few years ago when I picked up the Epos Elan's the seller was kind enough to include a MAC Sound Pipe, which I felt offered a subtle but noticeable improvement in what I was playing at the time, as far as power cord is concerned. I was using eit...

Any reliability issues, or am I confusing that with something I read about Bel Canto? don't remember exactly which.

May I ask, out of curiosity, what speakers you found them to be synergistic with?
A little puzzled by my newly acquired Yamaha A-S801
I am very interested also in the Quad Vena (II?) I want to audition, but I understand there might be some concerns about reliability/quality? In any event, likely need a bit more power, especially for the JRs.

Glenewdick, yes you are quite correct about the volume gain. So hard to trust reviews, and not always able to audition in person, the preferred way. This amp has a degree of clarity that is inviting, but if I had to describe the sound in one word,...
What’s your opinion about Dali speakers?
They definitely have their own signature sound to my ears. I have extremely limited experience, I owned a pair of Ikon MK 2 for about 5 months or so. Pleasing, a bit thin sounding to me in the upper bass, lower mids. Sound was clean but lackluster...
Trying to decide between Quad S2 and Ascend Sierra 2 EX
Decooney, had the fritz, also had discussion with Hilde once aboult it, an excellent speaker, something in the high end bothered me just enough for me to rotate it out. Nothing glaring at all, just a subtle softness or lack of 'pop' that I noticed...
Speaker candidates/suggestions
The Fritz Carbon 7 SE MK2 speakers are very fine in many ways. I owned them for a short while. I found the more I listened, the more there was something bothering me on the high end. Nothing egregious, I don't know if it was a roll off or my room ...
Speaker that are 'KEEPERS" for the long haul!!!
Being of modest means, I am very pleased with my Epos Elan 10s. They give me the tonal balance, 'ooomph' and immediacy I like. Heaven knows I've blown too much $$ along the way. I've spent three times as much for other well-regarded speakers, each...
Best Basic CD Player (no SACD, USB, etc.)
I regret my Onkyo CD purchase from Abt outside of Chicago. Skips clean CDs that my old CAL Icon never had issues with. It sometimes, not always,  sounds bright n hard as an above poster mentioned. I'd like to upgrade as well, without breaking the ...
I met this guy in a hotel room....
I enjoyed a pair of high quality Fritz Carbon 7 SE MK2. Ultimately I sold them . Could've been my amp, source' entirely. But while clean, coherent and engaging, there was, for me, something a bit reticent on the high end that I couldn't shake. I a...
Fedex and Ups Damage thread
FedEx insurance is a joke. Packed a pair of Amphions no different than 20 other speakers I've sold on eBay or that other mart. Speakers delivered to buyer in SC with cabinet damage and woofer screen pushed in according to buyer. Filed claim, sent ...
Differentiating audibly between bad caps and bad Ferro fluid
Great advice, thank you.
Suggest your most desired MSRP $1,500-$3,000 Stand Mount for a Shootout.
A lot of good choices. I definitely want to see this shootout!
Who uses ADS Speakers
L570/2 and l470/2, both excellent  470 had a slightly better midrange imo, but I preferred the 570s overall went a touch lower and more balanced bigger sound. About 200/pair used for each ,perhaps more now
