Vandersteen 5 vs Model 2c/2wq Combo Nrenter is right on. I bought a pair of model 5 about 10 months ago and that was an unjustified bad decision. If I were buying it over again I would choose a pair of 3A sig and 2Wq instead.
Woofer damage from new Star Wars THX DVD? Spluta,You said 75db do you mean the display on your preamp shows 75db? If so, that is not how the setup works. You can not go by the number on the display because different power amps and speakers have different sensivitives. You need to run a te...
Woofer damage from new Star Wars THX DVD? I don't watch too much movies so I don't really know what reference level is correct but I think if you listen at over 100db level, you might be risking yourself to permanent hearing damages.
Line conditioner for turntable, If your TT uses AC motor I would go for a VPI SDS. The SDS does more than just condition power, it also allows very fine adjustment of motor speed and automatically lowers voltage after start up to reduce motor vibration. The PS Audio power plants...
Can any stereo amp be bridged to mono ? No. Not any amp can be bridged. It depends on the design. For example, some amps are already internally bridged by design and cannot be bridged again. If you are interesting in bridging to increase output, please check with the manufacturer.
Step-up Transformer, what's lost? Herron phono amp has two versions one for MM and one for MC. The MC version has about 66db gain that should be enough for the Dynavector unless your preamp is very low gain also. Are you using the MC version?
Step-up Transformer, what's lost? What cartridge and phone amp are you using?
VPI 10.5 vs Graham 2.2 You skiped on track 6! That isn't right. I can paly through 6 without any problem. How many turns did you twist the wire?
VPI 10.5 vs Graham 2.2 Rick,I guess you did the test on the HFNRR test record. Can you tell me on which track did you experience anti-skateing problems?I saw that Wally tools (http://www.simplyblack.net/) is making an anti-skateing device for JMW arm. I am wondering if ...
Best Tube Preamp with Biamp Capability A used BAT VK-50SE. Very neutral, very dynamic, great bass, all tube, dual XLR output, can be upgraded to VK-51SE.
Vandersteen 3A Sig vs. Meadowlark Osprey I don't know anything about the Meadowlark but as a owner of Vandy 5, I can tell you that the Vandy 3A Sig + W2q sub will be a much better buy than the Vandy 5. You will get at least 80% performance for 50% of the cost. In some situations they wil...
TT wall mount height You should mount it such that the TT is at a bass null to minimize airborne vibrations.
Need help - Set up Helikon using test LP I just want to report back what I did.I spent the past weekend readjusting everything of the JMW 10.5. I increased the tracking to 1.85g. I also tried 1.9g as suggested by VPI but I found the piano lost some of its resonance. I like it better at 1...
Tube Preamp with PS Audio P300 My VK-50SE does not use much power during normal operation but it requires a lot of current during start up. I was told by BAT that PP-300 cannot handle it. The PP-300 will shut down before the preamp completes its start up cycle. I don't know muc...
How do you know when preamp tubes go bad? I read somewhere that Victor at BAT said an old tube can be reactivated by feeding it a certain current at certain voltage. Does anyone know how to do that? |
