Cream live Royal albert CD / LP
Hey Charlie, have you listened to this album, or do have it in for the Jag? Whether you appreciate his voice, or ever did, I find that he is capable of rocking with the energy that few have at lesser his age. Just sharing my opinion on the Cream a...
Cream live Royal albert CD / LP
I listened to side 5 of the lp, including "White Room" and "Toad', and although I appreciated the sound quality, I found the performances a bit disappointing...especially the vocals. The voices have not aged as well, as say Jaggers. Fun album, tho...
Atmasphere preamps
Fjn04, since you brought up the Jadis line of preamps I will chime back in. I have owned a Jadis JP-80MC for nearly 12 years. It is the only component I have been compelled to hold on to. A backgound of my experiences with the JP-80 and MP-1. In 2...
Atmasphere preamps
I had owned the MP-1 for better than two years. Amps were A-S MA-2's. The match was very satifying. The amps need to be balanced. The phono stage should also be balanced. Ralph Karsten has prided himself on the phono stage, which he told me the pi...
Where do you buy "NEW/Current" LPs?
I live in Milwaukee and have at least 5 lp sources for used and new releases. I remain pleasantly surprised at the selection of NEW titles released. Weekly, releases of progressive rock come available. Also, some pop; occassionally jazz and reggae...
Best Isolation HRS? SRA? Zoethecus? Symposium?
I have three Critical Mass bases. Two, which I have owned for about 5 months, sit under Joule Rite Of Passage amps. The third is nearly 2 months old, used to isolate my preamp. I have seen no change in level. The product is aesthetically top-grade...
Best Isolation HRS? SRA? Zoethecus? Symposium?
I am much in favor of Critical Mass Systems. Bests Black Diamond, Aurios, Silent Running in my system.http://www.criticalmasssystems.com/
CD player vibration control ..................
Aurios worked well. Black Diamond Racing platforms also proved effective. But in the system I now own, Silent Running Audio and Critical Mass bases have taken the isolation to a different level.
Shouldn't amp reviews employ multiple speakers?
The three responses above confront the issue well. Audio products are designed and voiced with a system of specific components. Assessing any piece of electronics or transducer without realizing the importance of system matching, I find not only u...
Sony SCD-1 mod
If Modwright continues to do mods, consider them. I had my Sony modified about 1 1/2 years ago. It has worked flawlessly and the sonic improvement is astounding. The mod included the addition of tubes, which entails cover plate alterations.
Budget Amp for Avalon Eidolon
I enjoyed the Classe CAM 200, which only occassionally lacked the neccessary juice. The Ca-301 was not a bad match, giving these power hungry speakers more of what they desire. Classe amps in this power range and incarnation are well within your p...

Reference DACS: An overall perspective
Teajay,How did the transports play into the comparisons? Did you sample each dac with each transport? Any variables in digital cables and/or power cords? Thanks,Steve
My transport has "tuning dots" what are these?
They may also be tuning dots made by Combak. I have used them in several components back in the days of "try anything". They were reported to tune the component ridding the system of unwanted anomolies. The science behind it was never clarified.
Solid state "backup" amp recommendation
I much enjoy Classe CAM 200's with Avalon speakers. Slightly short of the power I like, but pretty darn musical and nice extension.
