Can you imagine a world without vinyl?
Check this website out; it being of very convenient coincidence. A local record store; lp's as well as cds, ran this website exploring the benefits of vinyl playback. Nothing really new, but telling considering the source. http://media.www.marquet...
Can you imagine a world without vinyl?
I am presently at a point with my analog set-up, in which I am not even tempted to play cds. I am grateful for the continuing release of new vinyl; re-issues, as well as the current. Without vinyl playback I likely would have lost interest in high...
Stiff power cords are frustrating
FIM cords are extremely stiff, but may be bent into position. Not knowing how limited your space is, these may or may not work. I find them to be the best cords for my system.
Buzz/hum caused by new a electric lines
Gentleman,I swapped the wires in the breaker box and voila. The buzz is gone. I cannot thank you guys enough. Much of the last two days I have spent in desperation. The sound of this system with components on individual circuits has been magical. ...
Walker Diamond arm
Hi Mmalin, Thanks for your input. Might you expound on the changes your table is experiencing? What cartridge and phono stage? I find the Walker to be such a remarkable piece of audio; plus I realize Mr. Walker would only make change for the bette...
Walker Diamond arm
Hi Rushton, I have read the reviews and spoken to Lloyd somewhat briefly. The cost of upgrade, while most likely justified, remains a steep one for me at this time...but I find the temptation more than compelling. If the improvements approach revi...
Cat amps
I owned a pair of JL-1 LE about five years ago. They powered a pair of Avalons with great success. My preamp at the time lacked frequency extension, coloring things to my dismay. Unfortunately, I laid the blame on the CATs, mostly due to having he...
hifi audio in movies
In "Indecent Proposal", the wealthy Robert Redford character drops the needle on a VPI TNT. The film's second most sensual scene.

I really enjoyed the Koetsu Urishi on the Reference. The cart on this table did not suffer from much of the softness some complain is characteristic of Koetsus.
CAT JL2 Signature transparency vs OTL
I have heard Avalon Eidelons driven by Atma-Sphere OTL's and a CAT JL-2 with associated components basically remaining unchanged. The presence of transparency with the OTL is easily noticed, but the sense of weight and density I found more pronoun...
Tube amp for Avalon Eidolon ?
My experince with the Avalon/Atma-Sphere; or CAT; or Joule has been quite magical. These tubed amps have proven to have ample power in the systems I have heard them. I agree some tube applications may be maxed out with a speaker such as the Eidelo...
Broken CAT
CAT JL-1's played very well with Jadis preamp.
To all analogers: check this out
Don't miss the video.
Salon One Audio
Kt 88, I agree with you. This was an audio shop; the kind we may not see again. Bruce, with his home audition policy allowed me the pleasure of sampling a surprisingly large array of audio equipment. My only regret is the infectious need for bette...
WILL THE NEW 60,000 AVALON ISIS BE THE BEST YET?
HI, thought I would chime in. I must tell you guys the possibility of an Avalon apeaker with an increase in bottom and midbass presentation has reawakened my appetite. I now own the Diamonds, with some of the best highs and mids I've heard, but oc...
