Is there any fan of Mettalica here? @jafant Thanks for your compliment. I enjoy Metalicca through my system. Have a nice weekend! Thomas
Component contributions to “sound stage” Source, amp, cable all contribute to soundstage. But most important one is speaker. I had gone through lot of speaker through my 45 years of audio history. But line array speaker like Scaena seems to give more realstic soundstage. Wis...
Stereophile review of the $30,000 tekton speakers I have Scaena 3.2 which employ 12 3.5 inch units and 9 ribbons. It makes sense to use lot of small drivers for lower distortion. Sceana provide separate enclosure for each mid range units for refined sound. Tekton use rather simple b...
Stereophile review of the $30,000 tekton speakers They had reviewed Moab Be not the top model as pictured by deep_333. I had listened to Moab during Pacific Audiofest 2023. It sounds pretty nice driven by Atma class D amp. If I grade, I will give B+, not A. Moab Be must give more de...
The Psychology of Constant (Equipment) Change @ellajeanelle Thanks for your compliment. Although my system does not look tidy with tangled cables, it shall sound decent due to my 45 years of audio history. All my three children got married with nice job, thus I have room to spend...
The Psychology of Constant (Equipment) Change You are not alone. Many of us are audiophile rather than music lover. We keep going for new stimulus. Although I am happy with sound of my system, it is more likely that I will buy two or three components or cables by the end ot t...
Stereo Amp recommendations for Legacy Audio XDs I have hunch that Line Magnetic 805 SET will work well with your speaker. If you care about vocal, it is hard to beat SET. If you have dealer around you, then you may ask for home audition. Otherwise, used one is available at US Audiom...
You don't lack bass, you have too much treble My stance is different. If you find your system sound bright, then bring up the bass by adding subwoofer or so. After using two 18 inch, 15 inch, 12 inch subwoofers and mid woofers tandem, I found my system sound more balanced. Thomas
Axpona 2024 who is going and why? @jayctoy Nice idea. I will write my name as Thomas Kong on the name tag.
Visit to Mike Lavigne's house @noromance Placement of subwoofer behind does help little bit. But the most important factor is line array of Scaena speaker. I also have Lansche 4.1 which give supreme treble due to plasma tweeter. Lansche also give pretty wide a...
Visit to Mike Lavigne's house My answer to above question is as follows. Nice question! Good audio system shall have all the thngs you mentioned. But in reality, it is not posseible. About 3 weeks ago, I visited Mike's Lavigne's listing room. His well respected system...
Visit to Mike Lavigne's house The following is from someone elses question. Everyone hears differently and has different opinions on what makes a great sounding system What are your most important attributes or qualities to get right in a sound system ? What makes you pre...
Visit to Mike Lavigne's house @jayctoy Not right now. But I may in two or three years. Thomas
Line Magnetic 218a vs Leben CS600 -- am I insane? (aka when good beats great) You are not insane. Line Magnetci amps are much better than their modest price. I have both LM 508 and Rogue Cronus Magnum II. Rogue is no match with LM 508 even in bass authority although former claime to give twice power. Thomas
Looking for a smooth sounding 6922 variant I am using one Amperex bugle boy 6922 and quartet Telefuken ECC83 in my Margules sf 220 pre amp. I also tried Philips 6922 which sounds slightly sharper than Amperex bugle boy. Both are nice tubes. Sometimes you may swap the tubes dependi... |
