How important is HDMI?
There is a simple pleasure to seeing only 1 interconnect between components. Hdmi does work well, and can pass the new higher bit rate audio on Blueray discs and from HD dvd's. The sound is quite a bit better. Plus if you take a look at monoprice....
best way to ship Klipsch Forte II speakers
Another thing to stress, is to make sure all the corners are very protected. Try to find some kind of styrofoam corner protectors from other boxes you might have saved.
Good, Affordable Horns?
A thing to consider with the K-horns is that the sweet spot is determined by the room dimensions when in the corners.
Good, Affordable Horns?
I am going to tout my own Klipsch speakers, which are the Epic CF3's. They consist of 2 10" drivers, with a big horn between them. They are not bright at all, play tight bass down into the mid 20hz range. With their 100db sensitivity, they have a ...

Affordable center channel to match Sophia's?
Does not Wilson use off the shelf drivers. Try to find a center channel that uses the same brand of drivers that Wilson uses. Look for a center that has the same dB rating as yours. Try to match it spec-wise and you might find one that blends well...

There are some very good and bright front projectors out now, including the mitsubishi HD1000 I believe, which is under a $1000 and is getting good reviews, as well as the new panasonic mentioned. Your room does not have to be completey dark with ...
Most common subwoofer input?
the most common cord for a subwoofer is to use the RCA interconnect. That way, you can plug it into the standard subwoofer output on receivers and have control of it through the receiver.
Surround sound question. 2.1 or not?
you can always run speaker wire around the baseboards of your room as well, and then up to the speakers. Mine run under the carpet, then up the back wall. They are also painted to blend into the wall. Conceal the wiring and go for 5.1. Its alot mo...
Telling Left from Right on unlabeled RCA cables
one test for that is, if to have the same music on CD and a LP. Pick a disc that has definate info for the left or right channel, such as the stand up bass coming from the left speaker, or a vocalist singing on one side or the other. Then play the...
Which is the best SET integrated amp under $1500?
I have an Antique Sound Labs MG-SI15DT integrated tube amp. It has a switch so that you can choose between 5 watts SET and 15 watts in pentode. It uses 2 KT-88's as power tubes. Has 3 imputs and a subwoofer out, and comes with a nice wooden remote...
How to stabilize speakers without spikes.
type in adona in the audiogon search and scroll down to his floor spikes and protectors for some ideas.
Onkyo SV828 THX runs very warm
if it is still a concern, I have read of some people putting some little after market cpu type fan and putting it in front of the existing fan and exhausting the heat that way.
Onkyo SV828 THX runs very warm
The fan turning on at start-up, lets you know that it is in working order should it be needed. If your unit ever reaches some preset temp, it should turn on. As it has not ever done so, more than likely the warmth of the Onkyo is normal.
Is Bi - amping worth the trouble?
An interesting thing to try is to get the panasonic Sa-xr57 digital receiver. Which is a 100 watts x 7 and has a biamp function built into the unit. When biamped in stereo mode, it uses 4 of its internal amps for the bass section and one each to t...
