McCormack DNA-1- improvement over Bryston 3B NRB? The DNA-1 is light years ahead of the Bryston in terms of enjoyment. It just sounds more like music and the Bryston is more about......well I'm not really sure what it's about.Shakey
Speakers for Sonic Frontiers Power 2 Amp? The VR2s are decent speakers and will probably sound pretty good with the SF amp. They aren't overly bright or detailed. More so than Vandersteens, but not like Thiels. If you can get them ~1300.00 or so, it's probably worth it.Shakey
Speakers for Sonic Frontiers Power 2 Amp? I wouldn't be as concerned about the damping factor of the amp as I would the tonal balance of the speaker it's driving, although bass control is NOT one of this amp's strengths. The Power 2 has two sonic deficiencies, a neutral but borderline lea...
Which speaker from a few years ago? I agree completely with Gerryn. The Piegas are fantastic speakers. BTW, Gerry, did you replace the Adagio with the Piegas?Shakey
Nottingham Ditch the faux marble base in favor of sitting it directly on something else. I am lucky enough to have a Neuance shelf and this is a perfect match. However, using a maple block, such as made by Mapleshade or Timbernation will reap benefits too. T...
What speakers? If it must be a monitor, look at the GMA Callistos or perhaps the new Eos. Great speakers for the money that do most things right, and very little wrong.Shakey

I've $4k to spend on used speakers for big room Saunderse,The OP will not likely find Continuum 3s for even close to 4K, but it would be a good suggestion if his budget were more. However, he needs to look no further than either of those pair of Piega P-10s on Agon right now for under 4K. These ...
King Audio speakers? Lew Lanese of Stereotimes.com bought his review pair of King Audio speakers because he liked them better than the Piega P-10s that he sold me. All I can say is they must be pretty damn good to displace the Piegas, which just may be the last speake...

What goes beneath your Nottingham? It replaces the Nott platform. But good luck finding one. It's my understanding that Ken Lyons is no longer making them. And you need to have a VERY fast trigger finger when one shows up on Agon.Shakey
What goes beneath your Nottingham? Oregon,You didn't answer the original question. Have you owned a Nott or heard one in your system? If not, your comments don't hold water. You can love your Lenco all you like, but it sounds like you have only a passing acquaintance with Nott prod...
What goes beneath your Nottingham? Oregon,You have owned a Spacedeck, I assume?Shakey
What goes beneath your Nottingham? I ditched the faux marble platform in lieu of a Greater Ranges Neuance platform. This sits on a maple platform with DH Cones in between. Then comes the springs from a Machina Dynamica device which sits on another maple platform and the whole thing...
What is under $5k speaker with best bass slam? Like I said, letting those Piegas get away would be very foolish......Shakey |
