Canary Audio CA-100 or BAT VK-300 for callistos? I am using Valve Art EL34Bs in my CA-160 monblocks. I also have a set of EH 6CA7s, but prefer the VA tubes.Shakey
Canary Audio CA-100 or BAT VK-300 for callistos? Have you listened to both, Morgoth? Having owned products from both companies If feel like the canary amp will be the winner sonically. While I do agree that Victor and the gang offer stellar customer service, I was happy with canary in this respe...
Tired of Problems with Tube Equipment I have owned tube equipment for about 12 years now and have had very few problems. None with tube preamps or DACs, but my music reference RM9 had to be repaired twice. I also had to replace the power switch on one manley labs monblock. Tube failur...
Vandersteen 2/3 vs. 3A MM de Capo vs. GMA Europa Both the deCappo and the Europa will fill a large room. However, the really deep bass will be MIA. I think the Europa might play a little louder without strain.Shakey
Vandersteen 2/3 vs. 3A MM de Capo vs. GMA Europa Keep your Force sub and buy the Europas. I have heard all three speakers and the GMA is by far the best.Shakey
Musical full-range in the $3-4K range used? Walter,I couldn't have said it better myself. I have had my pair for exactly one year. If you knew my track record with speakers you would acknowledge that that's quite a feat.Only problem is, they don't come up so often on Agon anymore. Too bad.....
Any comments on the deHavilland UltraVerve preamp? I had the UV for well over a year and just recently sold it in favor of a Sonic Euphoria PLC. The dehavilland is a great tube pre and bested many other preamps in my system. The SE has better bass depth and articulation and is slightly more transp...
Canary Reference One Mono Blocks Well I'll chime in here even though I don't own the amps in question. I do, however, own the CA-160 monoblocks that Mr. Potis raved about in his review. They are fantastic amps and have been extremely reliable in the year that I have owned them. I...
Any experience with Thiel CS7.2 and PBN EPS2? I feel pretty sure the Montanas will best your Vandys. But I have been wrong before.......We'll stay tuned here for further updates.Shakey
Difference between Plinius Sa-100mklll and Sa-102? I owned an SA-102 briefly and I thought it was very good. I sold it to buy my Canary monoblocks which I love. But if it had to be SS, then it would definitely be the Plinius for me.Shakey
Audio Physic Virgo 5s Did you ever think it might be your square room and not the speakers? AP speakers have never been characterized this way. By most accounts the bass can be on the lean side. However, square rooms always tend to overemphasize midbass response.Shakey
Best high end monitors? FWIW I had the Be-718s and GMA Callistos in my room together for a weekend some time ago. The Ushers have deeper bass and a bigger soundstage, but the Callistos had a "live", in the room feel and better coherence. I sent the Tiny Dancers back to t...
Totem Owners.... I agree with Bill completely. It does make a difference when a dealer chimes in favorably for a product versus an end user of the same product. The consumer has no financial stake and his only bias is his enthusiasm (or lack of) for the product in...
Piega P10s.....are they still contenders? Well, the Piegas push all my buttons and I really do like them. I would like to make that clear. But I am one of those guys who doesn't want to know what is on TV, I want to know what *else* is on TV.....Just a curse I suppose.Shakey
PBN Audio Montana EPS2's Very good sounding speakers. Compares favorably to most any VS speaker below 10K. However, I do fancy the DB99 when you can find it. Don't know about the Tetons, but I did own the McCulloughs briefly and didn't exactly warm up to them.Shakey |
